About David Wemyss:

In 2006 I moved to Taiwan and started teaching English as a second/foreign language. I helped many children grow from shy but receptive learners, into confident and outgoing students.

I acquired a range of skills and techniques that were useful in maintaining a functional teaching environment. These skills included: delivering language concepts using different methods, organising student work groups; making sure tasks are completed and learning goals are met, keeping track of student progression; advising on areas for improvement, and creating appropriate learning resources for in classroom use.

In 2010 I returned to the United Kingdom and studied a Master of Arts in Teaching English as a second/foreign language at The University of Birmingham. I graduated in 2011 and returned to Taiwan. When I returned, I took on the role of English teacher supervisor.

In my time supervising teachers, I have managed teaching schedules, making sure semester preparation tasks are completed on time and classes are suitably staffed, implemented remote learning programs to allow uninterrupted education, chaired important meetings on school policy and events, mediated between school directors and English teachers to troubleshoot difficulties, motivated staff to improve knowledge and ability, helped recruit and evaluate suitably qualified staff and guided and mentored new teachers.

I have returned to the United Kingdom to resettle with my family. I am interested in using the skills I acquired whilst teaching and managing a small team of teachers in new job roles. There are two career areas I am interested in pursuing. One would be working in an office administration role or human resources as I feel my experiences, organisational and interpersonal skills would fit these roles well. The other would be returning to the information technology sector, working in IT systems support, database management or software testing. I am also open to other opportunities that fall outside of these two areas.
