About Demi Lewis:
Postgraduate psychology student with excellent interpersonal skills developed from university, and throughout the NHS as a healthcare assistant. Followed by my current role as a children’s mental health and drug misuse support worker. Strong theoretical background on the psychology of mental health, and excellent research skills gained from completing a dissertation report at Bath Spa university. Currently a postgraduate student studying MSc Health Psychology at UWE Bristol.
Experience
As a Children's Support Worker at Adferiad Sanctuary in Swansea, Wales, I have been providing a 24/7, non-clinical-based service to children and young people with Mental Health, Addiction, and Complex Needs since February 2024. In this role, I have been responsible for responding to and managing referrals, providing specialist 1:1 support to individuals, conducting behavioral assessments, and creating safe spaces for individuals experiencing social/emotional crisis, mental distress, and other challenges. Additionally, I have facilitated practical interventions, collaborated with external agencies such as CAMHS, and managed the Appropriate Adults service, which involves handling sensitive information regarding arrests and allocating appropriate adults for current offenders. Prior to this role, I worked as a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant Nursing at St. Martin's Hospital in Bath from November 2023 to February 2024. In this role, I was dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care in line with guidance from the multidisciplinary team, and was skilled in working collaboratively with other healthcare assistants to maintain high standards and implement new protocols.
Education
I am currently pursuing a Master of Science (MSc) in Health Psychology at the University of the West of England (UWE) Bristol, with a focus on health, stress, and cognition, as well as biopsychosocial perspectives on health. I am conducting a research project as part of my studies, titled "The Dynamics of Emotional Eating Behaviours: A Comprehensive Investigation Into The Role of Emotional Regulation", which explores the relationship between emotional regulation and eating habits. I am currently undergoing a CBT Coach Practitioner (Accredited) certification through CTAA. Prior to this, I earned a Bachelor of Science with Honours (BSc Hons) in Psychology (2:1) from Bath Spa University, where I explored topics such as criminal and forensic psychology, research methods, and abnormal and clinical psychology. My undergraduate research project examined the relationship between mindfulness and personality traits. Additionally, I hold a QCF Btec Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care with a focus on caring for individuals with additional needs, health psychology, and complementary therapies.
