Donald Brannan

With 19 years’ of experience in the oil and gas industry, both onshore and offshore, I have gained valuable “shop floor” experience as Drill Crew before starting a career in HSEQ. 

Working in various onshore and offshore roles at differing level, my experience has led to me working closely with (and building positive relationships with) all levels of staff, from grass roots employees, up to senior level management with confidence, as well as liaising with regulatory bodies on HSE matters.   

Open and honest individual, taking immense pride in the work I do, and am used to the sometimes-difficult challenges that can arise in this role. In my long and varied career in HSE, I have always maintained pride in my work and am a firm believer in doing the right thing all the time. With a strict mantra of “treat people as I expect to be treated,” I find I have made a positive impact in all roles I have held. 

Experienced in 

• Managing the HSEQ function.
• Creation and management of ISO / OHSAS standard management systems.
• Working with safety statistics, and ensuring trends are identified, reacted to accordingly, and filtered to the business at the appropriate level. 
• Using lessons learnt from the business, and from industry groups to implement positive change.
• In using trends and lessons learnt to tailor appropriate HSE Campaigns to deliver to the workforce in a way to get buy in at all levels.
• Auditing whether it be internal audits, acceptance and verification audits, or being audited by third parties, I also have created audit plans in the past.
• Providing HSEQ information for tenders, as well as creating Pre-qualification Questionnaires and assessing the tenders.
• Creation of Bridging Documents.
• An experienced COMET user, having led or been part of many Comet investigations. I am also an experienced COMET trainer, and Lead investigator.
• Communication skills which are used with good effect to influence employees to adhere to Health and Safety.  A confident character, I am very adaptable, can work under pressure, on my own initiative or as part of a team. 
• In a wide range of onshore and offshore operations including Rig Startups, shipyard, Drilling, Decom, HPHT
