About Emma Shears:

I've been working in marketing for over 20 years.

Experience

January 2022 – Present – Olivier Mythodrama - Marketing and Client Engagement Manager

I am solely responsible for all the marketing activity at this leadership development consultancy.

I joined as OMA’s first Marketing Manager, so needed to evaluate their current position and implement a new marketing strategy and plan quickly to promote OMA to the market.

  • Project managed the redesign and rebrand of the company website
  • Create all content for use on website, social media and for campaigns – including video content
  • Project managed and executed a two-week tour of the US to promote Olivier Mythodrama. This included organising two showcase events, publicising the events and inviting contacts and prospects to attend.
  • Managed the redevelopment of our online Archetypal Development Assessment so that we provided users with an enhanced experience.
  • Support on the drafting of proposals and tenders.
  • Manage and execute campaigns to drive business awareness and growth.
  • Manage and write award entries that won the company five awards in two years.
  • Drafted and executed marketing strategies and plans for business growth.
  • Manage the production and distribution of client communications including email bulletins and alerts.

June 2018 – December 2021 – Lewis Silkin LLP - Divisional Marketing and Business Development Manager

I worked in the Employment, Immigration and Reward department at Lewis Silkin, which has offices located in London, Oxford, Cardiff, Dublin, Belfast and Hong Kong.

  • Seminars and conferences: Developing and managing up to 50 events per year ranging from breakfast updates for 20 people to full day and multi day conferences including our showcase ‘Managing an International Workforce’ conference for 400+ people with speakers and attendees from across the world.
  • I manage the whole events process from finding appropriate venues and speakers through to writing and developing event materials and social media campaigns through to the follow up.
  • I developed an events management process that was rolled out across the firm and has been in use for the last 3 years. This includes a step by step process from taking the event brief through to event follow up.
  • During the lockdown we quickly converted all our events to online hosting a process which I managed across the firm. I have recently written a business case outlining what I believe should be the firm's strategy for all their events in 2022.
  • Planning, budgeting and reporting: I developed targeted marketing plans for each of the business areas I am responsible for, including running workshops with key personnel from each area to develop the plans and obtain buy in for each of the plans. I also manage the business development budgets for these areas and have regular strategy meetings with these groups.
  • Campaigns: I coordinated two of our key firmwide campaigns – A Lasting Change and This Place Minds

A Lasting change focused on the world of work post #MeToo. Together with a core team, made up of two senior partners and a director of the firm, we strove to change workplace attitude towards sexual harassment and bullying. We hosted a series of roundtables targeting specific sectors delivered free of charge to anyone who wanted to attend, created a Guardian’s network in conjunction with The Old Vic, created a dedicated area on the website to host useful information and also our pledge to help any organisation that wanted help. The campaign has won a variety of awards including Lawyer of the Year for our lead partner.

This Place Minds focussed on mental wellbeing. As part of this campaign, we gave employees the opportunity to talk about anything that had impacted their lives by writing blogs. The author could remain anonymous. Almost 40% of employees voluntarily wrote blogs which were only shared internally.

  • Directories: Supporting and drafting of legal directories across the areas of the business I am responsible for.
  • PR and planning
  • Drafting press releases for corporate announcements including strategic campaigns, business critical releases, new office openings, partner hires and promotions
  • Organised social media campaigns to support the above announcements
  • Liaised with journalists and PR agencies to attain press coverage and commentary
  • Client communications: I manage the production and distribution of client communications including email bulletins and alerts.
  • Pitches and proposals: Supporting my business areas on drafting proposals and preparing for presentations.
