About Jessics Thompson:

I am a qualified Chartered Management Accountant (CGMA) with a strong commercial and project finance background across diverse sectors including offshore wind, oil and gas, aviation and automotive. My key achievements include driving process improvements, stakeholder engagement and delivering strategic insights to Project Management teams and executive boards. I am experienced in budgeting, forecasting, claims management and contract frameworks. I am a confident communicator, mentor and team player with a natural drive to overcome challenges.

What drives me to be successful is I always seek to understand the why. No matter what industry I apply myself to, I aim to understand the operations and processes to the best of my ability in order to achieve job satisfaction and value to the reporting I deliver. My work experience has mostly been in engineering businesses, covering oil and gas manufacturing, automotive manufacturing, offshore wind turbine servicing and in shallow-water trenching projects. 

In my personal life, I have a great interest in physical health and wellbeing, paying attention to sport, exercise, nutrition, psychology and general health. I often listen to podcasts broadening my knowledge on these topics as well as those associated with market strategy of energy and renewables. 

 

 

 

Experience

Cost Engineer, Enshore Subsea Ltd (March 2025 – Present)

Enshore Subsea Ltd are experts in shallow-water trenching. They run a variety of projects from asset hire to full-scale EPC&I projects. I lead the cost control function for the project team delivering the Inch Cape Offshore Windfarm cable lay scope.

My key achievements include:

• Driving process and system improvement, reconfiguring the EAC report to improve the accuracy and value of information reported

• Implementing new systems and processes to improve cost control ie. Introducing WBS, producing guidelines for procurement process

• Gained an excellent understanding of the technical scope of the cable lay procedure

• Translating the bid information into the EAC file and feeding back to Commercial team on improvements

• Provided calculations for claims under FIDIC framework and re-aligned milestone billing plan for client

• Improved cash flow forecasting process and accuracy of reporting

• Mentor for the Cost Engineer Assistant

• Introduced and report KPI’s aligned to the project scope

• Presenting margin variance and EAC position to the Executive Board

 

Senior Project Controller, Siemens Energy Wind Power (July 2024–March 2025)

Project Controller, Siemens Energy Wind Power (January 2022 – July 2024)

Siemens Energy Wind Power is a manufacturer and servicer of onshore and offshore wind turbines. My role was within the Commercial team for the UK Offshore Service business.

My key achievements include:

• Managed the largest portfolio of Service and Warranty projects and cost centres within the team, adhering to tight and conflicting deadlines and always maintaining accuracy and validity

• Lead Commercial Manager for the UK Blade Campaign projects alongside my usual duties, managing the internal warranty budget, mitigating overspends, negotiating claims with the customer

each month, providing insights to variances and directed Senior Management to explore those variances

• Partnered with Operational Readiness team, providing financial information and guidance to support the completion of PM gates

• Represented Commercial at the Leadership Summit in Amsterdam

• Partnered with Central Finance to align accruals, improve process for fixed asset recognition and lease accounting

• Partnered with Operations to improve hours tracking and invoice authorisation to mitigate NCC’s

• Attended in-person leadership courses in The Hague and Hamburg, being the first commercial attendee alongside my operational colleagues.

• I have recognised where we can submit a customer claim, negotiating this with my customer contact and billing them for this

• Mentored junior members of the team and facilitated the Graduate Assessment centre in Hull

• Regularly visited operational sites to build relationships and improve collaboration

 

 

Assistant Financial Accountant, Newcastle International Airport Ltd(May 2018 – January 2022)

Newcastle International Airport Group consisted of four operating entities.

My key achievements include:

• Lead cashflow forecasting during COVID, enabling scenario planning with CFO

• Partnered with private terminal BU and engineering BU to report budget and forecast, improving the accuracy of EBITDA

• Lead the VAT returns process for all four entities, including initiating the changes for Making Tax Digital

• Managed accruals, billing multiple revenue streams, weekly debtor reporting and credit control

Accounts Payable, ADM Pressings Ltd (March 2016 –May 2018)

ADM Pressings is a manufacturer of steel and aluminium parts to the automotive industry, supplying well-known customers such as Jaguar Landrover and Aston Martin.

My key achievements include:

• Cleared large invoice backlog and streamlined AP processes across departments, reducing errors

• Delivered cost analysis to support supplier tendering decisions

• Managed invoice factoring and multi-currency reconciliations

 

Accounts Support, Techflow Marine Ltd (October 2013 – March 2016​)

Techflow Marine is a company which designs and manages the manufacture of fluid transfer systems and associated products to the offshore gas industry.

My key achievements include:

• Managing weekly vendor payment runs, negotiating payment plans with Directors of supplying companies

• Learning the basics of incoterms and import/export duty to support accurate VAT returns

• Processing invoices in foreign currency, reconciliation of NOK, EUR and US bank accounts

• Compiling documentation to allow invoicing to customers overseas, this included purchase orders and bank guarantees
