About Lindsey Wright:

I have qualified teacher status and ten years’ experience in education, including management and mentoring roles as Curriculum leader for History and lead practitioner for Humanities. I have taught people of a wide range of ages and abilities including those with SEND and SEMH needs. I have used a variety of different delivery methods, including traditional classroom teaching, one-to-one mentoring of PGCE students, e-learning and live virtual classroom via Google classroom and Zoom. 

I have effective communication skills and I am able to develop positive relationships with a number of different stakeholders including, students; colleagues; parents; outside agencies and governors. I am very efficient and organised with excellent planning skills. I am adept at switching to contingency plans when required. I am agile when working at a pace and am able to work towards deadlines effectively whilst handling a heavy workload yet also maintaining a high standard. I have experience of managing complex trips and events for over 60 people including international travel. I have made regular presentations to large groups on a range of topics and with a copious amount of different strategies to meet diverse needs. 

Experience

September 2018-present, Lead practitioner for Humanities and whole school literacy lead, The Boulevard Academy, Hull.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and implement an in-depth curriculum in history, geography and RE across years 7-9.
  • Teach and plan years 7-11 history, geography and RE lessons. 
  • Teach and plan year 7-9 English literature and English language lessons.
  • Promote literacy activities across the school.
  • Plan and implement a literacy curriculum for years 7-9
  • Monitor the teaching of humanities across years 7-9 and support non-specialist teachers.
  • Maintain the school library. 

July 2016-present, Examiner in GCSE and A-Level history, Pearson Edexcel, London.

Key responsibilities:

  • Attend standardisation and other training days.
  • Mark exam papers accurately and within specific time limits. 
  • Produce examiner reports. 

September 2016-August 2018, Curriculum leader for history, Whitley Academy, Coventry.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan, mark and teach my assigned classes.
  • Design and implement a new curriculum for history across all year groups, 7-13.
  • Line manage staff within the history department.
  • Act as a mentor to trainee history and geography students.
  • Monitor and analyse data across all classes and plan intervention where necessary. 
  • Support teaching and learning within the department. 
  • Run CPD sessions for trainee and newly qualified teachers. 
  • Oversee and ensure that the budget for the department was spent sensibly and ensure that it would last for the academic year. 

September 2015-July 2016, Deputy Curriculum leader for history, Whitley Academy, Coventry. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan, mark and teach my assigned classes.
  • Monitor and analyse data across years 7-9 and implement intervention where necessary.
  • Liaise with the ‘Opening Minds’ department to ensure that the year 7 curriculum is robust and monitor the teaching of history within this department. 
  • Provide support and training to non-specialist staff who were teaching history. 

September 2014-July 2015, Humanities and English teacher, Whitley Academy, Coventry.

  • Plan, mark and teach my assigned classes.
  • Monitor and analyse the data of my assigned classes and implement intervention where necessary.
  • Run intervention session for identified year 11 and year 13 students.
