Maarya Khatun

I am a recent BA (Hons) Fashion Design graduate from De Montfort University, seeking graduate opportunities to gain experience so I can forge a long term successful career in the fashion industry. I have a wide array of skills from CAD skills, using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, to garment manufacturing and pattern cutting. With experience with the full design process, I am constantly seeking new opportunities to build on these skills, as well as pick up new skills to push myself as a designer.

I have a year and a half worth of industry experience as I completed a placement year with Sylvia Jeffery Ltd as an Assistant Designer from September 2020-September 2021 and recently worked a part time role as an Admin Assistant Designer with Gill International Ltd.

I am a self-motivated and diligent individual with an eagerness to learn, approaching any challenge with enthusiasm. I am able to adapt to any given environment and have exceptional technical skills, as well as verbal and written communication skills and teamwork skills.

Assistant Admin Designer at GILL International LTD April 2023- August 2023

• Assisted senior designers with day-to-day needs, assisting in meeting company deadlines working with independent boutique stores and own brands.

• Accounting for incoming samples, photographing and labelling samples and uploading them into the system

• Attained skills in Microsoft programs like Excel to create CADs and update inventory

• Used proficient IT skills to create barcodes for delivery of garments and create delivery notes

• Used strong organisational and time management skills to keep track of deliveries and liaise with suppliers to ensure deadlines were met

• Aided in trend research by creating trend boards and fabric boards

• Assisted senior designers with day-to-day needs, working with accounts like George at Asda, F&F clothing, Tu clothing, Nutmeg, Disney stores etc.

• Had to be fully flexible, utilised exceptional adaptability skills and communication skills working from home during a pandemic.

• Used CAD programs, like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, to create tech packs, prints, logos and sample ranges for customers.

• Attained skills in Microsoft programs like Excel to create company roadmaps, range plans and costing sheets.

• Aided in trend research by completing comp shops and trend boards

• Strong admin skills, organising digital files and constantly liaising with customers, coworkers and print suppliers to ensure deadlines were met.
