About Madison Rutherford:

I am 23 years old, and I have currently received my bachelor’s degree in Sport and
Exercise Therapy at Leeds Beckett University. I am an ambitious and hardworking
individual, therefore have often received recognition for my commitment and
dedication, especially in sporting achievements.
I currently work within the NHS Service as a Physiotherapy Assistant where I am
able to demonstrate good communication, organisation and leadership skills within
the Multidisciplinary Team. I was also aware of the health and safety procedures to
ensure the safety of more vulnerable individuals. This enables me to gain knowledge
of working as part of a team, developing time management skills and a good
attendance record. I believe I am a conscientious, motivated, and hardworking
individual.

Experience

e Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - Physiotherapy
Assistant band 2 (November 2022 – current)
I am currently working as a Physiotherapy Assistant at The Royal Victoria Infirmary
and Freeman Hospital within Orthopaedics, Women’s health and Musculoskeletal
department.
My role within orthopaedics, trauma and elective acute inpatients, involves
orthopaedic handling where I mobilise and assist patients out of bed to progress their
mobility, conduct and educate on specific exercises, competently use devices to
transfer patients, understand different weight bearing status and to provide
appropriate walking aids. Apply, adjust and educate patients on slings, braces,
boots/shoes and continuous passive movement (CPM) machine. Alongside admin
duties such as, sending referrals, ordering equipment, assisting organising patient
rehabilitation programmes and staffing schedules.
My role within pelvic health is to chaperone in treatment rooms when required
assist with classes or patient forums, telephone patients identified by team to
organise appointments or to retrieve outcome measure data. I help support my team
with tasks related to the care of patients with pelvic health dysfunction and retrieve
patient data for analysis and reports as required.
Within Musculoskeletal outpatient department I follow my own caseload through
hydrotherapy. This involves using the hydrotherapy pool and continue treatment
plans created by the physiotherapist, by either poolside or in pool, under supervision
of the physiotherapist.

Body Blitz – Desk Assistant (July 2022 – November 2022)
I previously completed voluntary hours in a local gym to gain administrative
experience alongside shadowing a sports therapist along the way. This position involved in working behind a desk and around the gym, I ensured the members sign
in correctly and their membership was paid by using Microsoft excel and their
business desktop to check. Other duties included signing new members up, handling
money from customers and cashing up at the end of my shift.
TGI Fridays – Bartender (May 2021 – August 2021)
During university, I started work at TGI Fridays as a bartender part-time. This job
entailed concocting soft drinks and alcoholic cocktails alongside maintaining a warm,
welcoming atmosphere for our guests. I was able to mix drinks quickly and
accurately in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Oli & Joes - Waitress (December 2017 – March 2020)
I previously worked as a waitress at a local restaurant. This entailed serving food,
drinks, and working behind the bar. Working behind the bar entails handling money
from the customers, cashing up at the end of the night, and good customer
realisations. Working on the floor at the restaurant has given me a chance to
enhance my customer service, which enhanced me to gain relationships with the
customers, making them feel more comfortable and homely at the restaurant,
alongside receiving excellent service. Other jobs entailed receiving customers’
orders, completing the pass, which was to bring out the food and ensuring it was all
on time and correct, and generally making sure the restaurant was clean and running
smoothly throughout service.
Potter’s Wheel -Waitress (August 2017 – January 2018)
I worked locally as a waitress at a public house. I usually undertook 4+ hours every
Sunday serving meals, waiting tables, and serving soft drinks from behind the bar,
which has entailed using the cash till.
Working within the restaurant business allowed me to learn important life skills, such
as independence and responsibility. This experience also allowed me to problem
solve and develop an understanding of the customer and support them with any
issues or difficulties. I ensured I was punctual for all my shifts and was flexible to
complete extra shifts if needed. Throughout my time within the restaurant business, I
gained experience on how to complete certain tasks, such as the tills, completing
drinks, delivering the food and to ensure good service.
