About Manjit Sidhu:

Hello, my name is Manjit, I am a systemic and family psychotherapist, and I have been working with children and adults for over 15 years. I now work for the NHS in complex forensic mental health and run my own thriving private practice. I am also an Indian women, who has been raised in bustling London, balancing the diversity of both cultures. Passionate about holistic forms of therapy, I use this creativity to push myself and others to grow. I am now looking for opportunities in the UAE and willing to relocate.

Experience

In the medium secure hospital where I work, I specialize in working with prolonged and enduring mental health issues including mood disorders, psychosis, schizophrenia, as well as personality disorder, learning difficulties and substance misuse. I sit within the multi-disciplinary team and offer a patient lead service to patients and their families. I am passionate about long term systemic psychotherapy and I have first-hand experience of the usefulness in secure settings.

Within this role, I also consult with teams delivering reflective practice using a Cognitive Analytic Therapy Model. Passionate about Trauma Informed Care, I use my training to support teams to reflect on the competing systems and context that we all work within.

I have co-worked in a family therapy clinic in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health team with a range of presenting issues including ADHD and ASD. Here I offered time limited therapy in a sensitive and appropriate manner.

I started my career in Forensic Psychology, and I have vast experience in substance misuse treatment programmes. Starting in the prison system, I then widened my repertoire by working in community mental health.

Since qualifying, I have set up a private practice where I work with individuals, couples and families with a range of issues including breakdown in relationships, historical trauma, loss and eating disorders.

Education

In 2020 I completed a Masters in Systemic and Family Psychotherapy with Bedfordshire University and I am a registered therapist with the UK counsel of psychotherapy (UKCP). I also hold a Master of Science in Forensic Psychology from Middlesex University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Aston University.

I am committed to continued professional development and I recently learned approaches in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy. I am also part of a number of special interest groups, focusing on power, privilege and social justice.
