Marek Vasku

I am a postgrad graduate of the Geoinformatics programme at Aalborg University Copenhagen, Denmark and soon to be a postgrad graduate of Data Science MSc at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh and looking to start working and driving impact using data as soon as possible.

I have done several internships and job placements within different industries (sustainable transportation, energy and utilities), projects and countries which helped me to understand the work with data in real-world applications and from many perspectives. My two postgrad studies helped me to gain the needed theoretical base and understanding for many aspects of the field from machine learning algorithms, statistical modelling and data visualisation.

Throughout my studies, I have used a problem-based learning project work approach which taught me to apply theory and research-based knowledge in my work with an authentic problem (whether it was web application development or large-scale analytical Arctic shipping project). Problem-based learning helped me to improve my communication and cooperation competencies, and it also inspired me to face professional challenges with a positive attitude.
