About Mia Williams:
I am a compassionate and driven psychology graduate currently completing an MSc in Developmental Psychology at the University of Dundee. With a strong foundation in mental health, child development, and qualitative and quantitative research, I bring extensive experience supporting young people, families, and vulnerable communities. My roles as a volunteer, youth mentor, associate teacher, and camp counsellor have strengthened my skills in communication, coordination, and emotional support. I am especially passionate about promoting mental well-being and inclusion through education, creativity, and community engagement. I am now seeking opportunities to apply my skills in a professional setting where I can make a meaningful impact on the lives of others.
Experience
I have a diverse background in youth work, education, mental health support, and community engagement. Over the years, I have worked with children, young people, and families in various settings, including schools, universities, community organisations, and international summer camps. My roles have included teaching Highland dance, mentoring university students, leading youth sports and arts activities, and supporting refugee families. I also completed a practicum at Art at the Start, co-facilitating therapeutic art sessions for parents and infants. Additionally, I have experience as a young carer, supporting my brother with ASD. Across all roles, I’ve demonstrated strong communication, empathy, planning, and leadership skills, with a consistent focus on well-being, inclusion, and development.
Education
I hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Dundee, where I developed a strong foundation in mental health, cognitive development, and social behaviour. I am currently completing an MSc in Developmental Psychology, with classes involving infant development, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), qualitative and quantitative research methods, and mental health across the lifespan. My academic background is complemented by practical experience gained through a psychology-focused practicum placement.
