Raymond Leung

I am an enthusiastic and hardworking individual with a keen interest in: Computing, programming, and IT. I enjoy challenging myself and strive to always improve myself and my skills where possible. I hope to find a software engineering/development role where I feel my work will have an impact and where I can leverage my skills to help to solve problems.

During my time at Accenture on my main project I implemented countless code fixes, executed data exercises and reformed long standing functional processes. I was the primary contact for debugging and investigating code skip issues within my team. In the role I had the opportunity to work on various technology such as JAVA, C, HTML, CSS, SQL, AWS Cloud, REST APIs. 

Through the numerous changes and code fixes I implemented in the system I became more than familiar with the software development life cycle. I kept track of my code changes with assistance of platforms such as JIRA, Gerrit and ServiceNOW which ensured all relevant parties stay informed of project progression. With the utilisation of these platforms it allowed me to systematically tackle each issue. 

I was involved in daily meetings with my team in which I made sure to keep them updated on the progress and timeline on incidents, seeking inputs and opinions from peers to ensure incidents were resolved effectively, this provided an opportunity to exchange knowledge on the project. 

The main project I worked on for our Diamond client which entailed mainly of fixing code modules whenever they fail in a functional process, writing SQL code to extract certain records relative to the clients needs, resolving data known errors in the database with appropriate SQL code. With all these changes I document the process and keep the team and client informed on the progress of the project. This work that I do regularly is worth around 6k a day to Accenture this is high margin work. 

Accenture has a huge emphasis on progressive learning whilst on the job. I grasped the opportunity to enrol in a 6 week bootcamp called “The School of Tech”, this was a valuable opportunity to consolidate existing skills in my technology stack but also learn about other technology such as Js and React. At the end I was nominated as the most successful and candidate and was asked to be the guest speaker to the next cohort wishing to enrol onto the course.

During my studies at UEA I have completed several practical coding projects, some independent and some as part of a team. 

One of my favourite projects was my first which consisted of creating a Java movie database which filtered the movies appropriately in order to answer queries. This project helped me grasp the key concepts of OOP (Object orientated programming), something that I was completely new to at the time and this really sparked my interest in programming. 

One of my most challenging projects was my final year long project to create my own cloud-based inventory management system. I chose this project based on my experience during my placement and my desire to create something that I believe would be a useful improvement in the real world. I have been able to deepen my understanding of Python, Django and the MVC architecture. This developed my capability and interest to learn additional technologies.
