For over three decades, I have dedicated myself to the dynamic world of television production, actively contributing to the filming of captivating content in 25 countries across Europe, North America, the Middle East, Asia, and the Far East. From the exotic jungles of Madagascar to the dazzling lights of Las Vegas, I have been an integral part of projects that have reached screens worldwide.

Throughout my career, I have upheld the values of teamwork, recognising its importance in achieving outstanding results. From collaborative efforts in diverse locations to fostering a spirit of cooperation in the production process, I have consistently been a team player.

During my tenure in Hong Kong from 1995 and over a decade in Singapore until February 2010, I held pivotal roles within production and production services companies. Notably, I served as a director of Live Art International (S) Pte Ltd. from 2000 to 2010, where I played a central role in managing and guiding the production of award-nominated documentary programming for prestigious networks like Discovery Channel, National Geographic, and the international broadcast market.

I have collaborated with both global and UK mainstream channels, including BBC regions and national, ITV regions, CH4, CH5, Star TV (Hong Kong), Discovery Channel, and National Geographic. My roles encompass various production expertise areas, from producing and line producing to production management, coordination, content development, and even technical support and logistics.

I have worked on filming assignments in the following countries, some of which have been on multiple occasions … UK, USA, Mexico, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Turkey, Dubai, Abu Dhabi Madagascar, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, Philippines.

Experience

Work History: 

Present - 2010: UK Independent Freelance Production Services

 Recent projects include 'The Secret Life of Queen Elizabeth 1st' (Dean Love Productions, New York, National Geographic Television), Time Trackers Archaeology (Washington) for educational research and a pilot for a proposed TV series. I have also been providing consultancy services to smaller production houses while actively developing proposals for the broadcast market.

1998 - February 2010: Live Art International (S) Pte Ltd., Singapore - Company Director, Producer, and Production Manager 

I played a central role in managing and guiding various documentary series for the international broadcast market, including 'Artifacts' (7 x 1 hour, Discovery Channel), 'Ancient Chinese Inventions' (2 x 1 hour, sold internationally, including Discovery Channel), and 'Guardians of Angkor' (1 x 1-hour, National Geographic Channel). Our work garnered recognition, with 'Artifacts' (Discovery Channel) series one as a finalist at the New York Film and Television Awards, and 'Sync or Swim' (Discovery Channel) earning nominations at the Asian Television Awards. We also provided production services and technical support to other production companies, extending our reach across Asia, the Far East, the Middle East, and the USA.

2008 - 2009: ST Electronics (Singapore Technologies) (Digital Media Pte Ltd.) - iVL Animation Ltd. - Studio Manager 

During a transitional phase between productions, I managed a team of twenty-five animators at ST Electronics, fostering teamwork and collaboration. This role involved planning preparations for the next series following the completion of a major series with Nelvana in Canada. Notably, I continued to serve as a director of Live Art International (S) Pte. Ltd. during this period.

1996 - 1998: UK Production 

As a freelance professional, I collaborated with prominent entities such as BBC (national and regions), ITV UK regions, CH4 UK, CH5 UK, TVAM, GMTV, Discovery Channel (International and Asia), TLC, Disney, Sky TV, Star TV, (Hong Kong), and CH9 Australia, among others. My responsibilities spanned production management and technical services for a diverse range of mainstream programmes, including news, current affairs, and documentaries, encompassing live broadcasts.

1995 - 1996: Hong Kong Production 

Based in Hong Kong, I played an essential role in production management and technical services, contributed to location coordination, and provided production services for Star TV Hong Kong and independent production companies in the region, all while valuing teamwork and collaboration.

 

1989 - 1994: UK Production

During this period, I managed production and offered self-employed technical services within the UK broadcast industry. My clients included BBC (national and regional), BBC Film Unit Cardiff, ITV UK regions, TVAM / GMTV, Star TV (Hong Kong), and numerous corporate entities. My work took me across the Middle East, Asia, Far East, and the USA, primarily as a sound recordist for broadcast and corporate productions, working with esteemed organizations such as Hewlett Packard, Courage Breweries, Lloyds / TSB, AsiaSat, StarNet (Dubai), Kellogg's (Dubai), the Ministry of Defence, and more, always valuing teamwork as a key to success.

1988 - 1989: Independent Television West - Production Manager

 As a Production Manager for a Bristol-based production company, I specialized in TV regional commercials and corporate TV production while fostering a spirit of teamwork among the crew.

1984 - 1988: Bristol Polytechnic (University of the West of England) - Senior Technical Officer

 My role encompassed overseeing all technical aspects of the department, including building the studio control room. I gained invaluable experience working with media degree students and postgraduate students in the Media TV and Film department at the Faculty of Graphic Design, always emphasizing teamwork and collaboration.

1983 - 1984: Soundcraft Network Video - Hire and Facilities Manager 

I held the position of Hire and Facilities Manager for a prominent UK national broadcast equipment hire and post-production company. Our clientele included BBC and ITV channels, as well as numerous independent production companies, where teamwork and coordination were essential.

 

Additional Work: 

Apart from my core roles, I have contributed voice-overs for BBC promos, billboard strap lines, and corporate productions.

Education

Original Training: 

I began my journey in Marine Radio Communication, Electronics, and Morse Telegraphy from 1971 to 1973.
