About Robert Kleyn:
A recent graduate from the University of York with a strong academic background in Politics, Philosophy,
and Economics (PPE) and Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence. I have three years of experience as a tutor
and teaching assistant, refining my teaching and communication skills. I've also worked as a content
manager and creator for an NGO, contributing to its growth and impact. During my time in York, I have
developed a deep appreciation for the city's offerings, including its culinary delights, captivating vistas,
and rich, multifaceted history. My newfound passion has ignited a desire to share and inspire others with
a love for York among your clientele. I am wholeheartedly dedicated to assisting individuals in maximizing
their experiences in this city, ensuring they create lasting memories. Furthermore, I am fully committed
to making the most of the available position, as I firmly believe that honing the skills it provides will only
benefit me in my future endeavors and personal growth.
Experience
Based on my prior work experience, I have developed a variety of skills that would be useful for a role as an artificial intelligence consultant. As a tutor at both the high school and university level, I honed my interpersonal, communicative, and problem-solving skills. Working as a content manager for an NGO, I improved my organizational abilities and my ability to engage with people from different backgrounds and skill levels. Additionally, I have a proven background and experience as an academic researcher. In 2021, I published a research paper that focused on how care robots can help alleviate the strain in the care industry while mitigating risks to both caregivers and care receivers. Similarly, my research this year has explored how autonomous weapons can be effectively used in conflict scenarios to save lives while preventing moral calamity. Overall, my professional experience has equipped me to be an effective artificial intelligence consultant, as I can present complex technological issues in a way that is easy to understand and engage with. Furthermore, my academic experience demonstrates my ability to identify relevant issues and present viable solutions and strategies to address them.
Education
I started my master's degree in the philosophy of artificial intelligence at the University of York in 2022. Throughout this program, I studied various issues surrounding AI in different fields like algorithmic injustice, machine creativity, algorithmic profiling, values and alignment of artificial intelligence, and many others. This program helped me develop critical thinking skills to identify and address the relevant concerns while providing comprehensive strategies and insights on using these technologies. During my studies, I wrote papers that focused on algorithmic injustice and predictive analytics, where I presented future strategies to overcome these issues. Additionally, I researched machine creativity and its comparison to human creativity. I also took modules in politics, social justice, advanced ethics, and others. For my dissertation, I researched the impact of lethal autonomous weapon systems, where I showed how their use could potentially cause harm in conflict scenarios. Based on my findings, I presented considerations and strategies to use these weapons for positive outcomes in conflict situations.
