About Simran Batra:

An honest, hardworking, and self-motivated individual with over two years of experience working with adults and children with a range of needs. This includes supporting those with mental health issues, SEN/ behaviour support needs, substance misuse issues and those with an offending history. Has the ability to manage a challenging caseload, whilst ensuring all individuals receive a high standard of care and support. Passionate about promoting good mental health and helping others in any way possible, in both my professional and personal life. Young Person’s Recovery Practitioner (Feb 2023- Present)

  • Contract role.
  • Manage a caseload of children and young people aged 12-18 who have alcohol and substance misuse issues and supporting them with their recovery or reduction goals.
  • Proficient in using the system Nebula to log client information, assessments, session notes, care plans, risk assessments and YPOR’s.
  • Regularly deliver drug and alcohol and sexual health workshops to schools.
  • In charge of creating and posting content on the social media pages for the drug and alcohol service Fusion.

Young Person Substance Misuse/Hidden Harm Worker (Nov 2022- Feb 2023)

  • Contract role.
  • Managed a caseload of children and young people aged 10-25 who have alcohol and substance misuse issues and supporting them with their recovery or reduction goals.
  • Also working with those who are assessed to receive support with hidden harm, as a result of parental substance misuse.
  • This involved helping to improve their emotional wellbeing, support understanding of their parent’s substance misuse and minimise the risk of intergenerational drug/alcohol use.
  • Proficient in carrying out comprehensive assessments, creating risk management plans as well as recovery plans.
  • Experienced in carrying out sessions using motivational interviewing, CBT, and other psychosocial interventions.
  • Trained in administering Naloxone for opiate clients.

Family Support/Wellbeing Practitioner (July 2021- Nov 2022)

  • Managed a caseload of ex-offenders in the community and their capacity and motivation to rehabilitate.
  • This was facilitated by delivering and accessing 1-1 and group work interventions.
  • Worked in partnership with a range of local providers including probation, charities, and other organisations.
