Sohaib Ahmad Mohammad

Bilingual (English, Hindi) 3rd year MEng Chemical Engineering undergraduate at the University of Nottingham and currently on track to achieve a 1st. Developing interest in software development and database structures. An adept programmer who has been coding since the age of 15 and a strong team-player as evidenced by the design projects and through communication with the student voice group. With this, I have a strong desire to learn to learn new skills, technologies and processes.

PROJECTS AND REPORTS

• Bioethanol production plant My team were required to design a plant to produce dilute ethanol from scratch. Everything from the distillation column to heat exchangers were sized. In addition, a control scheme was designed.
• Sulfuric acid manufacturing plant The biggest project I have ever dealt with. Was tasked to research and design almost all components of the plant for waste acid recycling. Learned a great deal of new skills such as project management, documentation and HSE mitigation methods. Used the waterfall project management strategies for the first time to efficiently manage project.
• Concept water treatment plant for UoN Malaysia campus A water treatment plant was needed to be designed for a remote campus. Using all the techniques learned in the previous projects, a plant had to be designed that adapted well to the geography of the campus.
• Photochemical degradation effects analysis A 3 day long experiment was conducted to explore the factors that affect photodegradation of EBT in waste water. Analyzing all factors, the most economic configuration was found.
• Analysis of acetone pollution in a river sample Based on experimental data, I compared data from the experiment with real world values to decide whether the water was an environmental hazard or not in my report.

Attending the University of Nottingham where I am studying MEng Chemical Engineering. Currently in the 3rd year.
