About Sophie Lannie:

My time and energy are focused on being dedicated to qualifying as an Integrative Counsellor which I am now in my final year obtaining my clinical hours. I truly believe in the importance of developing, preserving and promoting good mental health and well-being among children, young people and families. I feel there is great power behind individuals, particularly from a young age, understanding how to self-regulate their emotions, resolve self-defeating behaviours and thought patterns and develop feelings of self-worth to make positive changes to flourish within their true potential. If we could create the right nurturing environment and opportunity for individuals for this to take place, so that families can begin to heal on a generational level, then this not only improves but also preserves the progress being made within our mental health as a collective.

Although my training is within Integrative Counselling, I naturally sway towards Carl Rogers’ Person Centred teaching because it recognises the full unique potential of each individual. My nature is gentle, softly spoken, and empathic whilst maintaining stability throughout sensitive conversations and scenarios. I understand that it takes courage to make the first step in seeking support and each client needs to be met with warmth and kindness upon their first point of contact in the referral process.

I have in-depth experience within clinical administration and work to improve the service for the client contributing to the organisations overall service delivery quality. I have a flexible mindset and enjoy challenging new ways of thinking to adjust to the high demand of bereavement counselling in a fast paced environment.

Experience

I am currently working within clinical administration for an online bereavement counselling service. This work is fast paced with a high demand to meet service delivery times.

Within my role, I have involvement from the start to the end of the client journey through the service. I check client registration forms and acting upon safeguarding concerns where necessary. I also sign-post to alternative services internally and externally to the organisation, to those clients who do not meet our Terms of Service.

I monitor the number of applicants daily and from this, send bulk invites to clients for them to book an assessment appointment with a counsellor. Once the assessment has been completed and accepted, I gather assessment feedback from the client and within 2-3 weeks begin to allocate the client to a bereavement counsellor. This process is complex and lengthy to ensure each allocations matches the counsellor and client availability alike for up to six weeks. My latest piece of works has been to improve this process for accuracy and improved time management across the administration team.

I work within a fast paced email inbox daily, responding to a range of external and internal enquiries and requests ensuring to prioritise where needed. The language is kept formal with a level of warmth and understanding to what our clients are currently experiencing through their loss. I work hard to portray this over email as we are an online service only.

I am motivated to keep a good communication with my colleagues within administration as well as the wider online counselling team. There are multiple ways of communication online from Teams message to video call, emails and using the comments function within Google Docs to tag colleagues into to documents where I have worked to make improvements and need others to feel up to date.

I thoroughly enjoy the fast paced environment and working within a counselling team whilst I aspire to also work as a counsellor in the future.
