About Stefanie Venne:

I am young professional with 6 years of experience working in SEND. I am interested in furthering my career in education, I am currently applying for a part time university course do to this.

Experience

My present job is with Cambridgeshire Regional College ( 2016 to the present time)

I am a young professional looking to further my career in teaching. In the last 6 years, I have gained significant
experience working with special educational needs (SEND). This work has included the care and education of young adults with a variety of disabilities including, Downs syndrome, Autism, Global delay, Aspergers, ADHD, and other severe learning difficulties. Some clinical conditions have included epilepsy and diabetes.

My duties include:

  • Classroom and lesson preparation
  • The importance of embedding English and Maths into each lesson.
  • Creating resources, and aligning these to the individual learning needs.
  • Where necessary the provision of personal care.
  • Developing artwork materials
  • The undertaking of sensory circuits
  • Responsibility for monitoring progress and report writing relating to my students.

A good deal of my working day is on a 1:1 basis with students, however, I understand the importance of working in a team in this challenging environment. Good communication skills both verbal and non-verbal are essential when working in SEND. Empowering students to achieve their personalised learning outcomes, including Educational Health and Care Plan targets is an integral part of my role.

A communication book is completed daily to ensure that the carers and parents are kept up to date on behavioral issues and learning progress. A team meeting is held each morning to discuss the learning and development of each individual. A  pro-monitor entry on the intent, implementation, and impact of each student is part of my daily routine.

I am passionate about the care and academic progress of each of my learners as I want them to reach their full potential. I believe the knowledge and skills I have attained are easily transferable to the primary school setting as I have had a good foundation in the care of individuals with special needs.
