Steve McKenna is a former B.B.C. Senior Broadcast Journalist who's spent over three decades in radio, print and television. Steve runs the McKenna Media Group. The group incorporates a digital content agency, a public speaking and media training company and McKenna Live Events.

As a communications expert Steve's trained politicians and household names in public speaking, has spoken as a guest lecturer at universities and a variety of conferences.

He also has a unique understanding of marketing. While working at KLP (part Euro RSCG) he was part of the team who marketed the Spice Girls and worked with clients as diverse as Tennent's, Virgin and super club CREAM.

Steve's television work has encompassed every major channel, including The Movie Chart Show (CH 5), GMTV (ITV), RISE (CH4), FOT (BBC1), Science at Christmas (B.B.C. 2), Entertainment U.K. (Sky) and many, many more. During four years at Radio 1, he was acting Editor of Entertainment News, appearing daily on Radio 1 and 2 while reporting for B.B.C. television news and Radio 5.

In print, Steve has written for numerous publications, including N.M.E., The Guardian and completed a two-year stint as a columnist for Scotland's Daily Record.

Steve's razor-sharp wit and superb timing have led him to successfully host hundreds of award ceremonies and gala events and write comedy for both B.B.C. Radio 2 and 4.

Starting at B.B.C. Radio Scotland, Steve moved on to Radio 5 before joining Radio 1, X.F.M. London, Real Radio Scotland and Heart Radio.

He's also worked extensively in live television, including Lorraine (Sky), The International Piano Competition (BBC2) and three years presenting Scotland's Children In Need coverage.

His expertise in the entertainment industry has taken him around the world, from The Oscars in Hollywood to Cuba's first rock gig, numerous European festivals, various events in New York and even halfway up a mountain in Switzerland.

A life in the media wasn't Steve's first career choice, and for several years he worked very fruitfully in the background of the music industry managing and assisting some top Scottish bands in the early stages of their careers. Shirley Manson of Garbage cites Steve as the person who launched her to fame. In 2024 Lewis Capaldi featured him in one of his videos as a result of Steve's work as a Trustee for the domestic abuse charity Rebuilding Lives UK.
