We are looking for a
SHE Advisor to join our Thames Tideway Framework, based in our Bermondsey, London office.


About the Project


Thames Tideway Tunnel Main Works East is a £650m Costain-Vinci-Bachy joint venture ("CVB") which aims to achieve the ambitious target of "Reconnecting London with the River Thames" by tackling the issue of frequent untreated sewage spills into the river from London's sewer network.

This major project will provide a new sewage storage and transfer tunnel from Chambers Wharf to Abbey Mills.

It includes the main tunnel, a connection tunnel to Greenwich Pumping Station, various shaft constructions, a connection to the newly constructed Lee Tunnel project, and minor works at the Beckton Sewage Treatment Plant.


About the role


Understand the Company Health & Safety and Environmental (SHE) and National Highways Policies and Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements are implemented.


Assist the SHE Manager and other members of the SHE team, in key tasks to assist in the development, management, implementation and monitoring of the Safety, Health and Environmental Management System.


Actively promote the company 'BE SAFE', 'BE WELL' and 'BE GREEN' messages in addition to the implementation of best practice principles across the business and to include stakeholders such as the supply chain.


Key Responsibilities


Provide operational and functional management advice on the practical implementation of the company's SHE policies and processes including external stakeholders such as customers if necessary.

Assist SHE manager or delegate and Contract Management in understanding of stakeholders (internal and external) aims, priorities and risks with regards to SHE.

Assist, where needed, with the development of Health, Safety and Environmental Management plans if applicable and coordination of review.

Provide advice and guidance, and where necessary assist with the obtaining legal consents, licenses and exemptions such as discharge consents, abstraction licenses and waste management licenses as and when required and as directed.

Undertake and/or assist SHE Manager and/or Contract Management in establishing, managing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders such as local authorities, HSE, EA, and others as required and directed.

Assist with and undertake SHE CTRM's, other inspections and audits where required of operational sites.
Research Safety, Health and Environmental issues and best practices as directed by the SHE Manager or delegate.
When directed, assist with the preparation of SHE risk assessments and Method Statements.
Undertake and/or assist with the monitoring, analysis of and reporting of SHE performance.
Utilise data to highlight areas of further consideration, evaluation and intervention.
Assist and/or manage the investigation of accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences, near misses and other incidents as directed.
Obtain competency cards in line with the company Competence Card Compliance Policy e.g. CSCS/CCNSG


About you
Experience of delivering presentations, talking in public etc
The ability to thrive in pressure situations
The ability to empathise and communicate with all people, regardless of their background or circumstances
Excellent organisational, communication and time management skills
A passion for Safety, Health, and the Environment
Be able to work on own initiative when required
Be computer literate

Maintain own level of knowledge and competency in relations to SHE Management and responsibilities including appropriate qualifications and professional membership.
