    Description
    We are a group of perinatal services who are looking for qualified psychological therapists to join our teams.

    We are keen to expand our MDT to continue with the development of our psychologically informed pathways of care we offered to the women accessing our services their babies, partner's and family during the perinatal period (from pre-conception to 2 years of age).


    We recognise that perinatal mental health is a specialist service and we are keen to invest in the development of new practitioners joining our service to develop their knowledge, skills, clinical practice, leadership and confidence in working in this area.

    We are therefore looking for applicants who either have experience in perinatal services or have a good foundation with transferable skills and an interest in perinatal work.


    We are looking for motivated and committed clinical psychologists who are passionate to lead the development of psychological therapies and the therapy pathways within our perinatal mental health services.

    We are particularly interested in applicants who are either interested in training in Systemic Therapy or have started their systemic therapy training.

    Providing psychological treatment for a caseload of clients with complex perinatal mental health needs during their pregnancy and up to one year post-natally.

    These may be longstanding mental health problems or those presenting for the first time.

    ~ To deliver interventions which provide support to mothers and their families in caring for their babies' developmental needs, promoting infant mental health and wellbeing.


    To work with service users in a variety of settings, including service user homes, antenatal clinics, Children's centres and outpatient clinics.

    To be involved in joint assessments including participating in a duty rota and telephone triage for referrals with support of experienced Perinatal Practitioners, Team Leader and other clinicians.

    To ensure accurate and concise record keeping relating to both parents and babies as well as documenting interactions with external agencies where appropriate.

    To provide written and verbal feedback relating to the mother's care of her baby and general feedback relating to the baby's well-being at clinical and local authority meetings.

    To communicate in a clear and professional manner with all parents, colleagues and extended agencies involved in safeguarding of the baby.

    To have close working links with our designated Mother and Baby unit, Coombe Wood
    To also work in partnership with local health visiting teams, maternity services, children's centres, Children's services and adult mental health services

    CNWL's Perinatal Mental Health Services provides support for pregnant & postnatal women experiencing mental health /emotional difficulties in the boroughs of Brent, Harrow, Kensington and Chelsea, Hillingdon and Westminster, providing community and inpatient care.

    TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS

    Doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.

    Proof of on ongoing CPD and training to ensure up to date practice and application of skills.

    Training and/or qualification in Systemic Therapy
    Post-graduate training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice related to perinatal mental health such as CBT, family therapy, DBT, VIG etc
    Post-graduate training and qualification in supervision of specialist model.
    Training in trauma informed care

    Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, in-patient and residential care settings severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.

    Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care coordinator and also within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan.


    Experience of working within a Trauma Informed Care framework
    Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care.
    Experience of the application of psychology in different cultural contexts.
    Experience of delivering supervision, models of supervision and training to be a supervisor.
    Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision.
    Experience of training and/or qualification in Systemic Therapy
    Experience of working within a Trauma Informed Care framework

    Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.

    Skills in providing consultation to other professional and nonprofessional groups
    Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
    Evidence of continuing professional development.
    Ability to demonstrate competent risk assessment and to develop and deliver a robust risk management plan.

    Well-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities etc).
    Evidence of training and qualification in second therapeutic model.
    Knowledge of the theory and practice of highly specialised psychological therapies and assessment methodologies.
    Experience leading a working group or project group.

    Ability to develop and use complex multi-media materials for presentations in public, professional and academic settings.

    Experience of proactively working to enhance knowledge, understanding and awareness of issues related to diversity and inclusion.
