    We are looking for a motivated and flexible occupational therapist to join an exciting cross trust rotation in Hounslow and Richmond covering community rehabilitation , inpatient rehab, mental health, neuro and wheelchair services.

    This is an ideal opportunity for new graduates, those who are qualifying in the next 3 months or current Band 5 occupational therapists looking to build on their experience within a supportive, friendly environment. It will give you an excellent feel for how modern health care is delivered in different settings across the local boroughs of Richmond up-on Thames and the Borough of Hounslow.

    Band 5 Rotational Occupational Therapists receive regular supervision with senior clinicians, monthly band 5 Preceptorship meetings , monthly OT meeting and rotation specific training as part of the band 5 competency program.

    Main duties of the job

    Rotations include: Wheelchair Services, Community Recovery Service-Reablement/Rehabilitation, Integrated Community Response Team ,In-patients Teddington Memorial Hospital, Richmond Response and Rehabilitation Team, Hounslow Community Neuro , In-Patient Adult Mental Health and Discharge hub . In future there will be an opportunity for placements in the acute.

    Each rotation is for 6 months however the post holder may be required to rotate at an earlier or later date depending on service need.

    To manage own caseload, assess plan and implement and evaluate interventions using evidence based/best practice, working towards patient centred goals in the context of the speciality and as part of the multidisciplinary team.

    Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust (HRCH) provide a wide range of healthcare services for the population of London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and the London Borough of Hounslow.

    The Clinical Services Directorates have a wide range of responsibilities to manage, including coordinating and delivering community primary care services on behalf of the Trust. A wide range of these healthcare services are delivered by staff in the community, who include medical staff, paediatric therapists, therapy assistants, health visitors, specialist nurses, nurses, nursery nurses, paediatric phlebotomists and healthcare support workers with the support of administrative staff working in localities with GPs, other health professionals, early years, education, and social care professionals.

    The digitalisation of health services is underway with a requirement to become paper-light by 2023 through improving the use of digital tools and adopting mobile and agile working practices and increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of clinical delivery.

    Essential

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC achieved or in process
  • Continue Professional Development including evidence of reflective practice and clinical experience gained
  • Skills and Abilities

  • Able to demonstrate a commitment to the HRCH values (Care, Respect, Communication )
  • Understanding of team / group dynamics. Able to work harmoniously with a diverse workforce to deliver a quality service to people from different backgrounds.
  • Ability to act on own initiative. Good organisational ability - self management and flexible approach.
  • Health and safety and risk awareness. Able to work at moderate to high levels of physical activity involving the delivery of manual therapy, therapeutic handlings of patients and the assessment, demonstration and installation of adaptations and equipment.
  • Competent IT skills, word-processing and internet / email skills. Excellent written and verbal communication in English language.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member both with the OT team and the multidisciplinary team
