Description

As Health Equity Programme Manager, you will play a key role in the development and delivery of our strategy to build a fairer and healthier Waltham Forest.

As a borough, we want to tackle health inequalities by taking action on the key social determinantsof health - the social and environmental conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age, which shape and drive health outcomes.

Through the findings and recommendations of the Institute of Health Equity's report, A Fairer and

Healthier Waltham Forest:

Equity and the Social Determinants of Health, the Council is committed to developing a shared strategy for collaborative action acrossthe borough.

They want to develop place-based and system-wide approaches to health equity in line with our 15-minute neighbourhood model principles.

This will include working internally with senior officers and elected members to develop the Council's initial responseto the Marmot report recommendations, and externally with partner organisations and residents across the borough to co-ordinate our system-wide response, going beyond the health and social care system to work with residents, the voluntary and community sector,the police, schools, FE colleges and universities, and the businesses and economic sector.

We want to bring together the broadest range of partners to scale up our ambition and achieve the greatest possible impact on improving health outcomes for Waltham Forestresidents.


This strategic and high-profile role will require strong stakeholder engagement and programme management skills, a good understanding of the broader drivers that contribute to health inequalities, and strong research, consultation, and analytical skills.

To be successful in this role you will have a positive, can-do approach, be resilient, highly motivated, and able to work with agility in a pressurised political environment.

You will have excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability towork creatively and positively to find solutions to problems.
