    Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse



    About the Job:



    The position of Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse involves providing nursing care to psychiatric patients in both independent and team settings. The main responsibilities include:

    • Enhancing the quality of life for patients and families
    • Consulting and collaborating with other healthcare providers
    • Demonstrating continuous improvement and evidence-based practice
    • Maintaining and advancing clinical competence
    • Participating in hospital committees/teams and research projects

    RPNs/RNs collaborate with various healthcare professionals and work on inpatient psychiatric units, assisting individuals with acute mental health challenges. The interdisciplinary team focuses on wellness strategies, such as nutrition, exercise, therapy, and relapse prevention, to support patients in transitioning back to the community.

    We are seeking a proactive, motivated, and adaptable mental health-trained nurse (RN/RPN) who thrives in a team-oriented environment and is dedicated to continuous learning. Experience in Mental Health or Substance Use is highly valued.

    Job Opportunity Details:

    • Casual Opportunity: Hours may vary, and shifts could be on short notice. Casual employees can apply for permanent and temporary positions within the organization.
    • Shifts: Days and nights - 07:00 to 19:00, 10:00 to 18:00, and 19:00 to 07:00.

    Wage Information:

    Effective April 1, 2024, the hourly wage will range from $41.42 to $55.91.

    About the Location/Unit:


    The Psychiatric department at East Kootenay Regional Hospital comprises a 10-bed inpatient unit, including 2 seclusion rooms. The recently renovated department prioritizes staff and patient safety.
    The skilled team includes a team leader, RNs on 12-hour shifts 24/7, a unit clerk, and 4 Psychiatrists. Group activities and the PIECES philosophy are implemented to support patient care.
