    The Role �

    As a Mechanical or Electrical Specialist, you will provide technical support to the Portfolio Project delivery team on aspects of design validation, M&E compliance, statutory legislation, standards validation, project snagging, equipment factory acceptance testing, and M&E site control. You will be responsible for maintaining and delivering industry standards and best practice, across Estates in supporting our mission delivery. The role is also responsible for the production and development of project �Statement of Requirements� for wide ranging and diverse projects and contract deliverables. You will also assist in M&E plant and equipment failure investigation, in addition to conducting condition surveys of strategic and critical plant and equipment.

    You will be responsible for providing daily support to our Estates management and project teams on a varied and wide-ranging aspects of M&E services. You will be the focal point for providing support on all aspects of associated M&E infrastructure and critical assets throughout the estate. You will have a close working relationship with the Total Facilities Management (TFM) provider on all aspects of M&E delivery, operation, and maintenance, providing M&E support during Client/TFM collaborative auditing of the TFM Integrated Management System. You will also provide support to the Estates Outage Manager on all aspect of outage delivery from outage planning through to outage site control and support. Sites could be located around the world, so some travel will be expected.

    Person specification

    About You

    You will have a wide range of mechanical and electrical knowledge relevant to buildings infrastructure and services, applicable technical skills, and sound communication skills. You will be able to explain to us your solid M&E background and hold recognised technical qualifications. Demonstrating significant knowledge and experience with respect to HV/LV distribution, emergency standby systems, power generation, Data Centre power and cooling is something you will be able to show us. You�ll also be able to outline your considerable knowledge of mechanical and electrical planned maintenance systems and CAFM systems.
    Good working knowledge of BS7671 and associated electrical installation, design, testing and inspection experience is important and you will be able to outline your experience of this to us.

    You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of HV/LV electrical safe systems of work, associated electrical legislation, from experience in a safe systems of work environment. You will need to show a sound understanding of FM Hard Services delivery and experience in conducting FM and/or M&E service audits of FM service providers and sub-contractors. �

    You will be adept in your interpersonal skills, able to contribute to the work of the Estates Team, developing and growing the partnership with our TFM provider. With solid organisational abilities, a positive attitude, and pragmatic approach to finding solutions to problems, you will be prepared to act on your own initiative and drive tasks through to a successful conclusion.

    Benefits

    Alongside your salary of �41,935, GCHQ contributes �11,322 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.

    CPD will be provided to bridge any gaps in knowledge/experience, including but not restricted to HV Appointed Persons course(s), LV design, First Aid. You will be expected to work towards achieving a professional status such as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng).
