Description
Responsibilities:
- Carry out diagnosis and correction of instrumentation, electronic and control issues related to both process and Facilities equipment located across the whole site
- Carry out calibration and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems as per procedural documentation.
- Accountable for maintaining, documenting maintenance work and improving maintenance procedures in compliance with GMP
- Effectively communicate any issues at handover liaising with the shift maintenance, FM and C&I teams
- On completion of engineering tasks, work status, including the root cause of the problem and any outstanding issues are to be feedback to the owner department
- Manage the backup and recovery of automated Control Systems including PLC's, Industrial PC's, HMI's
- Manage critical spare parts ensuring availability of operationally good components and costeffective supply
- Support in the compilation and completion of Validation of New and changes to existing equipment
- Carry out document periodic review and updates ensuring up to date with current working practices
- Rectification of DSEAR compliance deviations
Understand and correctly use the following systems:
- CMMS to raise job cards, complete assigned maintenance, review and update equipment history
- EDMS to read, review and modify procedural documents, as required
- Beamex to carry out and record instrument calibrations
- Drawing database to access, understand and update site electrical and control drawings when required
- To be aware of and follow the site systems for control of change, safety and risk assessment and waste handling when carrying out day to day activities
- Provides and implements ideas that will improve efficiency, reduce cost, or improve the safety of the operation.
- 1:1 training of apprentices, coworkers, and other stakeholders
- Supervision of contractors when required
- Keep all work areas tidy
The Person:
- Served a recognized apprenticeship in Control and Instrument Engineering and have attained an HNC or equivalent in Control and Instrument Engineering or similar
- Have the required competencies to assemble, install, carry out preventative maintenance, repair, diagnose faults and remove and replace, and dissemble instrumentation and control systems and their associated system components.
- Understand the relevant legislative, regulatory, and local requirements or procedures and safe working practices, including their responsibilities with regards to reporting lines and procedures.
- Understand the preparation and reinstatement requirements in respect of the work area, materials and equipment, and the possible consequences of incorrect actions in these areas.
- Be able to read and interpret relevant engineering drawings, related specifications, quality standards and equipment manuals, and to follow work instructions and relevant plans and schedules.
- Understand which tools and equipment to use, and when, and will follow relevant training, methods and techniques and quality control and safety procedures for their us
- Understand the types of defects and testing anomalies that can occur, how to identify them, and what action to take.
- Be able to handle a range of digital information, technology, and equipment to support work related tasks and to communicate information
