Policy and Research Executive.

The Policy and Research Executive (VE) will be an excellent communicator, problem solver and team player, as well as having the ability for self-directed research and independent work.

You will have the ability to grasp issues quickly and adapt to a rapidly shifting agenda.

You will support the research team in data capture and analysis and shape the development, communication and execution of policy initiatives that support the purpose of supporting sustainable and inclusive visitor economy growth across the region.

Your work will play a key role in supporting positive outcomes for businesses and residents; contribute to the effective positioning of the Company's work with partners; and ensure that the Tourism and Hospitality Advisory Board is informed and responsive to the research, data and policy landscape.

The Policy and Research Executive will have the knowledge to engage with organisations across the public, private and higher education sectors.

You will have a forward-looking approach and will contribute to the development of effective relationships with the key stakeholders, as well as with external partners and national government departments.


Qualifications:

  • Professional qualification or relevant degree, or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

Skills and attributes:

  • Strategic, analytical thinker
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fastpaced environment
  • Ability to manage several projects; selfmotivated and deadlinedriven
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare highquality reports, presentations, and policy briefs.
  • Able to develop rapport and strong working relationships with a diverse range of people across the public, private and academic sectors

Knowledge and experience:

  • Experience of policyrelated role, preferably in economic development, the visitor economy, government, or a related field
  • Experience of working closely with Combined Authorities, Local Authorities and/or other key bodies (such as trade associations, business representative organisations) in a visitor economy or economic development capacity
  • Succinct responses to government policy consultations
  • Experience of developing evidencebased policy and translating it into strategies and plan
  • Strong data and research analysis skills
  • Knowledge and/or experience of international trade including exports such as inbound travel and tourism
  • Experience of using CRM / ERP systems
  • Experience of taking board notes and maintaining an action tracker
  • Working knowledge of the West Midlands' economy, the West Midlands Combined Authority and its constituent authorities
