    Description

    The above vacancy exists for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate to lead, manage, develop and support the deployment and running of critical emergency service communication devices, systems and infrastructure. The role will also be the subject matter expert in these areas as well as the interconnecting systems in our emergency control room and on-station alerting systems.

    This role will represent the Service at industry events, contacts with suppliers and meetings with other fire and emergency services where you'll be required to liaise with personnel at all levels. The role is also the ICT lead for Mid and West Wales Fire at our joint control room. Some work may require security clearance.

    A high level of experience and confidence in ICT systems, networks, in-vehicle devices and electronics and communication devices especially within the emergency services will be required. The candidate must also possess the ability to make rational decisions even stressful during critical incidents is required.

    The role will work in the Operational Systems team within the ICT department and will report directly to the Operational Systems manager.

    The post is 37 hours per week (Monday-Friday) with flexible working, and is based at Service Headquarters, Carmarthen. It may require some infrequent occasional travel and overnight stays and also may be required to provide on-call support on a rota basis out of normal working hours (with additional pay).

    Mid & West Wales Fire & Rescue Service is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to a DBS check and satisfactory references.

    Please also note that due to duties to be undertaken within Joint Public Service Control the successful candidate will also have to undergo a South Wales Police vetting process on commencement (Non Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV). This level of vetting is standard practice and a requirement for anyone who has physical or remote access to police premises, information or intelligence. Ongoing employment will remain subject to this vetting being completed satisfactorily.
