Responsibilities for the Transport Supervisor

To ensure the smooth running of the allocated transport shift activity, ensuring appropriate resources (people, equipment etc) are available to meet planned activity levels
Ensure compliance to all relevant legislation affecting Kent transport and warehouse operations
Be responsible for vehicle maintenance and monitor all defects and faults
Record and report via the appropriate channels all vehicle and driver incidents and accidents
Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety requirements within the transport operation
Contribute to the identification, evaluation and where appropriate implementation, of improvement initiatives within the transport operation

Route planning

Kent and Sussex
Ensure the smooth and timely dispatch of all routes
Keep up to date with, implement and adhere to CPC and Tachograph requirements
Working closely with the Depot Manager, ensure that all transport activities are monitored and managed on an ongoing basis
Ensure vehicles are on the Dart charge London Congestion zone
Ensuring parking tickets are paid and deducted from wages ware needed
Prebriefing and debriefing driver to ensure paperwork is completed to the level expected
Ensure compliance with all Employment Law requirements within the transport operations
Ensure drivers are fully trained and focused on delivering excellent customer service and meeting customer expectations
Ensure staff work to the processes and procedures relating to the transport operation and debrief drivers in accordance with the Company requirements
Assist in the recruitment of driving staff as required
Monitor staff performance levels, providing feedback to the employee and to the Depot Manager on achievements and/or concerns and help to identify improvement opportunities
Regular and open communication with drivers on shift matters and working processes
Build, maintain and enhance effective working relationships with all Stakeholders & UK Staff, but particularly warehouse and transport teams
Rota/Holiday planning
Monitoring drivers' hours/contracted hours in line with payroll
Undertake tasks as required and instructed by the Depot Manager or Directors which are not specifically set out in this job description but are within the scope of your skills, knowledge, experience and responsibility
To be responsible for your own personal development and keeping up to date with all current and future changes to legislation and practises relating to your role
You have a duty in law to act responsibly and to take reasonable care for the health and safety at work of both yourself and your colleagues

Transport Supervisor specifications required

Clean driving license
Ability to communicate effectively with all members of staff at all levels
Proven organisational skills, including planning and problem solving
Building, maintaining and enhancing effective working relationships with all Stakeholders & UK Staff, but particularly the Kent Warehouse staff
Proven record in delivering excellent customer service and meeting customer expectations
A conscientious, proactive and positive approach to duties
Flexible working attitude
Valid and up to date Transport/Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
Experience in transport planning and staff supervision
Good working knowledge of IT systems including Microsoft word and Excel
Up to date forklift licence
