This is a unique opportunity for a PhD student to work in our London Data Science team
on a 3-month Internship, exploring technical tools and algorithms in the field of data ethics, particularly around fairness and transparency.
We will provide induction training and continuous support throughout the placement.
Expected Outcomes
Our objective for this placement is to deliver a process by which our future data science solutions will be assessed.
The intern will produce a report, with recommendations, on the strengths and weaknesses of these tools and potential benefit to dunnhumby.
Supervision and Mentorship
The Data Scientist intern will work in the Applied Data Science team in our Brook Green office.
The intern will be a member of our Data Science community - both Research and Applied - to provide them with a network of colleagues for support and learning.
Person Specification
The ideal intern will have a passion for Data Science with a questioning mindset.
_Essential skills:
_
- Experience building predictive machine learning models in Python
- Knowledge of data ethics issues and a desire to build metrics to assess them
_ Desirable skills:
_
- Knowledge of different data ethics frameworks
- Experience of large real world datasets
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to explain technical issues to a nontechnical audience
