The client is a large energy group who operate across Europe.

The UK team has the objective of achieving substantial further growth, through acquisitions and investment in construction of new build generation assets.

The Legal Counsel will provide legal support across the business, but with a focus on:
development and construction projects in the UK and Ireland;

acquisition of suitable assets / development opportunities on the secondary market; the operation and optimisation of their existing fleet of assets.

advise the project and execute teams on issues and transactions arising through the whole life cycle of renewable and conventional energy projects;
advise on key construction, commercial, planning and finance agreements with local and international counter parties;
provide legal, regulatory, procurement and commercial support to our fleet of operational gas and biomass assets;

The successful candidate will have ties to the Leeds area and is likely to come from a Construction, Projects or Energy background either working In-house or in private practice.

Given the structure of the legal team this role is likely to suit a mid to senior lawyer. The successful candidate will be interested and passionate about working in the energy sector as a Legal Counsel.
