We have an incredible opportunity to join us here at Phoenix Group as a BPA Transition Lead to join our Annuity Client Services team.

Who are we?
We want to be the best place that any of our 6,800 colleagues have ever worked.

We're the UK's largest long-term savings and retirement business.

We offer our 13 million customers products across our market-leading brands, including Standard Life, SunLife and ReAssure, with c.£310 billion of assets under administration.

We're a FTSE 100 organisation that is tackling key issues such as transitioning our portfolio to net zero by 2050, and we're not done yet.

The role

As part of this role, you will manage a team of Transition Managers and Senior Transition Managers to support our Trustee clients and their administration partners through the transition to Standard Life as part of a buy-in or buy-out arrangement.

You will be the face of Standard Life, providing best in market service each day.

The role would require you to:

  • Proactively lead a team of Transition Managers and Senior Transition Managers, ensuring service to Trustees and administrators remains at a high quality
  • Create and actively manage the Target Operating Model for the Transitions team, ensuring processes are robust and fit for purpose at all times.
  • Lead the management of large and complex Schemes. This includes the journey from deal execution to buyout, supporting Trustees through the process.
  • Develop, own and drive a project plan with each Scheme to proactively manage them through the transition process.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to manage Trustee project plans and raise issues where required.
  • Proactively identify emerging issues, liaising with external administrators and Phoenix's outsourced administrator to rectify.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, Phoenix's outsourced administrator, scheme administrators and Trustees.
  • Produce detailed and accurate management information to support effective oversight, presenting monthly performance as part of Client Services governance forums.
  • Support the preparation of contractual documents and individual pension policy documents
  • Ensure that all contractual obligations are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Act as a point of escalation for the Transition Managers and Senior Transition Managers in the management of schemes, creating presentations for Trustees and attending meetings with clients.
  • Confidentially lead all operational aspects of BPA new business pitches.
  • Carry out all required tasks for operational readiness prior to deal execution for selfmanaged deals. Review operational readiness for all deals completed within the Transition team.
  • Review benefit specifications and validate benefits have been onboarded accurately by the outsourced provider.
  • Document, manage and assess on an ongoing basis the risks & control environment associated with the BPA Transition team.

What are we looking for?
To help you succeed in the role, you would ideally have:

  • Previous experience managing a team of experienced professionals, potentially within a project environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of the BPA process from initial deal execution through to buyout.
  • Ability to communicate complex pensions concepts to a variety of audiences, including Trustees, administrators and internal stakeholders.
  • Previous experience creating and managing a project plan to ensure all key milestones are achieved within the timescales set.
  • Previous experience proactively managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the needs of all parties are considered.
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities as new client requirements emerge.

We want to hire the whole version of you
We are committed to ensuring that everyone feels accepted and welcome applicants from all backgrounds.

If your experience looks different from what we've advertised and you believe that you can bring value to the role, we'd love to hear from you.

If you require any adjustments to the recruitment process, please let us know so we can help you to be at your best.
