We are delighted to be in a position to offer a Band 7 Practice Education Facilitator for our Haematology day unit and Anticoagulation services.

We are looking for a Nurse with experience of working in a Haematology Services to contribute to providing the best care for our patients through supporting the nursing and allied health professionals in the delivery of high standards of patient focused, evidenced-based care:

Applicants need to be strong communicators and demonstrate an ability to train, assess, educate and develop others, work well autonomously and within a creative team.


You will work with the Haematology Services, Matrons, Senior Nurses and Nurse's in Charge to develop best practice and nursing skills.

You will have the opportunity to work with all nursing and AHPs to support with their education and development.


The Haematology Practice Education Facilitator (PEF) will take the lead for facilitating and developing learning for all grades of staff within the directorate, promoting evidence-based practice to meet the needs of patients.


  • Provide clinical advice, guidance and support for staff.
  • Support staff through the revalidation process, ensuring sufficient, CPD is undertaken, reflection against the Code takes place, feedback is received from service users and that the portfolio is confirmed as accurate.
  • Contribute to the review of policies, procedures and setting of standards.
  • Ensure that all staff are aware of and adhere to all trust policies and procedures.
  • Report and investigate clinical incidents and accidents in accordance with trust policy.
  • Collect statistical information and carry out audits as required in relation to all aspects of education - i.e. educational audit.
  • Participate in the provision of orientation and induction programmes for all new staf
  • Develop staff to undertake extended roles within their scope of professional practice ensuring competency is achieved.
  • Participate in the development of multi-disciplinary clinical protocols, policies, procedures, that reflect the nursing/midwifery strategies i.e. NSF, NICE
  • Ensure professional nursing standards are maintained in accordance with NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act and be aware of its implications.
  • To participate in, and support research trials, clinical audit and practice development

You will encourage staff to remain up to date with all aspects of mandatory training and specialist training requirement within Haematology Day Therapy Unit and Anticoagulation Service in line with trust policy.


In conjunction with the Ward Manager's, You will participate in the development of evidence-based practice, protocols and policies concerning staff development and education.


You will be expected to be aware of the potential learning opportunities available within the trust, which includes University courses for post registration nurses.

These will be arranged following consultation with the Ward Manager.


You in conjunction with the ward managers' will liaise with the trust education lead concerning external contractual courses offered to staff and provide support to staff allocated to specific courses.


You will help to develop and implement a training needs analysis and proactively engage with education and research agendas for Nursing.

You will also work with the wider community of Clinical Practice Facilitators, educational staff and others at all levels across the Trust; creating excellent opportunities for your professional development.


This role will provide you with an excellent scope and support for furthering your knowledge of undergraduate and post graduate education, practice based and academic learning.
