SAFEGUARDING AND WELLBEING OFFICER

BASED AT MGTS, 3 DAYS COVENTRY & 2 DAYS REDDITCH


MGTS is an innovative and resourceful leader in the provision of workforce development solutions through education, training and assessment providing apprentice training as well as a full range of commercial courses.

MGTS is continually developing and expanding its portfolio of education, training and assessment solutions.

We are looking to recruit a safeguarding and wellbeing officer to ensure we provide a high level of support to our apprentices.

The apprenticeship journey that our apprentices undertake requires the compliance of safeguarding policies and procedures, meeting the welfare needs of our apprentices but also implementing a personal development curriculum to ensure every apprentice has the opportunity to develop and grow personally.

The following skills and knowledge would be advantageous:

  • Experience and knowledge of the Safeguarding requirements in an Education setting
  • An understanding of the requirements of Prevent, British Values and Equality & Diversity in an Education setting
  • Experience of delivering training packages
  • Knowledge/Awareness of mental health first aid

Role requirements:

  • Ability to write, develop and deliver training packages

Key Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Undertake the role of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) by supporting the DSL in the coordination of referrals, arranging action and follow up and reviewing services, intervention and support for MGTS apprentices.
  • Support the DSL in the implementation of safeguarding and child protection policies and provide support and training to staff, apprentices and apprenticeship employers.
  • Assist in coordinating the safeguarding team of Designated Safeguarding Officers (DSO) and manage the monthly team meetings.
  • Keep accurate safeguarding records and monitor student progress on the learner profile system.
  • Assist in coordinating the implementation of the Personal Skills Development Award (PSDA) at MGTS
  • Implement and support the apprentice learner wellbeing committee providing a learnerled approach to apprentice wellbeing.
  • Understand and support MGTS with regard to the Prevent Duty, providing advice and support to staff and training to apprentices.
  • Liaise with the the delivery teams at MGTS in regards to apprentice learner support, identifying where support is required and working collaboratively to find solutions.
  • Liaise and share information with key colleagues to support the Apprentice to attend MGTS and overcome barriers to learning.

Working Hours:
Monday to Friday - 36 hours
