Our Engineering/Technical Buyersare responsible for the sourcing and supply of the components that come together to make up our exceptional and prestigious projects (mainly cars)
The main responsibilities of this role include:
- EBI (early buyer involvement) in projects, providing technical guidance on manufacturing processes to improve product selection
- Manage and support sourcing for new projects from concept through to completion, ensuring a high performing supply chain is in place to meet requirements
- Demonstrating sound negotiation skills and financial awareness with a strong focus on RFT (Right First Time).
- Analysing demand from engineering drawings to understand key manufacturing requirements and processes.
- Identifying cost reduction opportunities whilst maintaining product integrity and quality.
- Source and champion new suppliers to better improve business targets and objectives.
- Identifying and addressing risks, such as supplier capacity, lead time constraints, global shortages and factory shutdowns.
- Manage supplier performance and relationships.
- Execute NCR, supplier returns and requests for rework in a timely manner and in line with RML NCR & returns processes. Provide support across the Procurement Team.
- Actioning Engineering Release notifications and providing suppliers with open order reports.
- Proven experience a motorsport/automotive, engineering procurement/operations environment with an understanding of the commercial aspects.
- Understanding of technical/engineering drawings and BOMs
- CIPS Level 4 (or working towards) or HNC/HND equivalent qualification would be beneficial.
- Direct experience and knowledge in negotiating quotations and contracts with suppliers and manufacturers within a diverse supply chain, managing short lead times.
- Experience of working with crossfunctional teams
- MRP / ERP system experience.
