Overview
Requirements:
- Good understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent mathematical skills, as well as good reading and writing skills.
- Able to follow basic instructions well.
- Confidence to ask questions if additional clarity is required.
- Experience in a payroll/ bookkeeping setting preferred but not necessary.
- A willingness to learn and utilise new information quickly, including taking notes where required.
- Where necessary, requesting funds from the client and sending Partners client account payment requests and accompanying reports to authorise to make onward payments from the Firm's client account to individuals and HMRC.
- Making pension submissions to a wide range of providers
- Able to Liaise with Pension companies.
- Make declarations to The Pension Regulator when necessary.
- Assist the payroll manager in completing year end procedures at the end of every tax year and distribute P60s.
- Whenever necessary, be able to communicate with HMRC effectively in regards to unpaid PAYE, misallocation of payments and all other payroll matters.
- Informing clients of the liability due to be paid ahead of the deadlines.
- Support the Outsourced Finance Department with queries regarding basic payroll queries once competent.
- Complete timesheets on a weekly basis detailing work completed and time taken, to assist in the billing process
- A good working relationship with colleagues in a professional setting.
- Have strong interpersonal and team working skills.
- Be willing to work independently where required, while being aware of signing off procedures.
Systems
- Systems used will include but are not limited to IRIS Payroll Professional, Microsoft Outlook, CCH document management system, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel.
Compliance
- An awareness of compliance deadlines for payroll will be developed in this role however it would be advisable read up on these beforehand.
Fraud
- Although not engaged to identify potential instances of fraud, if you come across any information which appears to be indicate fraudulent activity, to notify the firm's MLRO.
