Laboratory Assistant

CPL Puragen Activated Carbons is an award-winning environmental purification company with strengths in water filtration, renewable energy and air treatment. We are a rapidly growing business based on a circular economy model and strong technical capabilities, with sites across the UK, Europe and the United States.


Due to our growth and the expansion of our laboratory services, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Laboratory Assistant to join the team at our industry leading Immingham site, to play a vital role in supporting our quality assurance work by carrying out a variety of laboratory tasks.


Main responsibilities:


  • Collect, prepare and analyse samples using laboratory techniques including XRF, Butane Adsorption, Dean and Stark moisture, Ash and Volatile (High Temperature Oven), basic wet chemistry, titration methods and Sizing.
  • Prepare reports and maintain accurate records of data and observations.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow and project completion.
  • Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and work areas.
  • Supervise the sample stores, ensuring correct retention periods for retained samples.

Quality (ISO 9001), Environmental (ISO 14001), Occupational Health and Safety (ISO

  • Operate with Good Laboratory Practice at all times.

Our requirements:


  • Experience of working in a laboratory environment.
  • A degree in Chemistry.
  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques, scientific research principles and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in maths for data analysis and calculations.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data collection.
  • Excellent organisational and timemanagement skills.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members.
  • Ability to work in an alternating shift pattern, Monday to Friday, 6am2pm and 1pm9pm.
