    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Paediatric Nurse to join our well-established and experienced Neurodisability/ADHD nursing team at Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust.

    You will be a compassionate, accountable individual who treats all colleagues, patients and service users with respect and seeks to deliver excellence in your role. You will share the Trust values and be committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.

    Main duties of the job

    The role involves being part of a large multi-disciplinary team providing specialist care to children and young people, (and their families), with ADHD/Neuro-disability. The successful candidate must:

    • Be motivated
    • Be organised
    • Have an interest in Neuro-disability and ADHD
    • Have excellent communication skills
    • Have the ability to use their own initiative

    The role will include providing specialist nursing knowledge within the speciality of Neuro-disability

    Job responsibilities

    The role will include:

    • Developing programmes of care and advice and support to children and young people with Neurodevelopmental conditions including ADHD, and their families.
    • Providing and developing care packages and advice and support to children and young people with Neurodevelopmental conditions including ADHD, and their families.
    • Assisting in the provision of information, education, training and expert advice within the clinical specialty for patients, families and other health care professionals.
    • Acting as a key contact for children with ADHD and their families.

    Person Specification Qualifications and Training

    • RSCN, RN (Child), RGN or RMN
    • Educated to Diploma or Degree level
    • ENB 998 or equivalent teaching certificate
    • Paediatric Life Support certificate
    • Basic counselling qualification
    • Post basic qualification in speciality/relevant field such as Learning Disabilities

    Experience

    • -Significant experience at Band 5 or above in a relevant paediatric setting or other appropriate setting and relevant experience in an education/community setting
    • Experience of working with children and young people with Neurodevelopmental conditions including ADHD, and their families
    • Experience in the provision of nurse-led clinics
    • Experience of teaching/training others

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Knowledge of holistic, family-centred care
    • Principles of child protection
    • Principles of infection control
    • Health and Safety safe practice
    • Ability to manage own time and use initiative
    • Ability to teach
    • Sound IT skills
    • Good understanding of Neurodevelopmental conditions including ADHD
    • Audit skills

    Personal Attributes

    • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a multi disciplinary team
    • Commitment to continuing professional development of self, with a willingness and desire to undertake further relevant formal and informal training

    Disclosure and Barring Service Check

    This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
