- Strong relevant experience
- Professionally qualified in Electrical Engineering (CEng or working towards)
- Demonstrate a significant knowledge of HVDC technology along with a grounding in general power systems engineering
- Coordinate across project disciplines, external subcontractors and remote offices such that technical risks are identified and mitigated, and all statutory and regulatory requirements are met
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; experienced in creating and presenting technical reports; and responding to clients' technical questions
- Ability to understand and communicate customer requirements, lead technical discussions with customers and develop client relationships
- Understanding of Systems Engineering principles and requirements management
- Understanding of functional characteristics of power systems and interactions between AC and HVDC systems
- Able to work to deadlines under pressure whilst maintaining the safety, quality and engineering integrity of the solution
- Prepared take part in working groups such as CIGRE, IET and other professional bodies
- Be able to demonstrate an understanding of HVDC scheme design and system studies.

AECOM is seeking a Principal Engineer to join our HVDC team in the UK and Ireland Transmission and Distribution department.
You can be based in any of our locations in the UK and Ireland which includes Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Croydon, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle, and St Albans.
We will consider hybrid-working arrangements.Responsibilities:
The primary objective of this role is to support the development and delivery of HVDC and FACTS activities.
You'll be expected to provide technical expertise into bids and proposals and to represent the company in client meetings as appropriate.
