The Opportunity


We have an exciting opportunity to join the Nuclear Skills Alliance (NSA) as a
Safety Rules Training Instructor at Hinkley Point C (HPC).


You will take personal responsibility for training for various Safety Rule roles, ensuring Nuclear Operations and New Nuclear Build operators have the required initial knowledge in these areas to carry out their roles safely.


In your role, you must ensure accuracy of material, adherence to the training standards/procedures and excellence in quality of delivery.

You will receive all training required to become a Fleet Certified Instructor, so while prior experience in training may be beneficial it is by no means essential

What you'll be doing

Key duties include:

  • Development and delivery of training material on Safety Rules programme.
  • Supporting training in classroom and plant simulator environments, as well as providing coaching and mentoring of trainees to expedite learning.
  • Acting as course coordinator for Safety Rules Authorisation(s) Training Programme courses.
  • Communicating with customers for the successful development of competence within their staff.
  • Ensuring company values, Safety and OPEX are embedded throughout the training, training material and lesson plans.
  • Maintaining relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts (SME's) for development of material.
  • Liaising with external organisations such as National Grid, HPC Pre Ops and Commissioning to obtain regular updates to training and training requirements.

Who you are

Your background may include some of the following:

Essential:

  • Typically experience of working in the field of Power Generation, however relevant experience in other related industries will be considered.
  • Knowledge and experience of Safety Rules processes and procedures.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to identify, analyse and solve technical problems.
  • Strong mentoring and influencing skills.

Advantageous:

  • Experienced in delivery of high quality technical/ simulator training.
  • Knowledge of training processes (Systematic Approach to Training).
  • Knowledge of modern learning methods and media, and experience of bringing these into the development and delivery of training.
  • Holder of a recognised teaching/training qualification.
  • A good understanding of the key aspects of nuclear power plant systems and operation.
