Job Title:
Head of Tax and Advisory

Location:
Peterborough (Hybrid - 2 days in the office)


Overview:

Responsible for owning and managing taxation within a group company setting.
Ensure group complies with all its tax compliance obligations with appropriate processes and controls in place.

To act as a centre of excellence and expertise in relation to taxation, providing advice throughout the group to ensure tax burden and its related risk is minimised through the use of all available reliefs and optimal structuring.

Managing a team of two managers to assist and support with the above, whilst at the same time providing an environment for learning and personal development.


Responsibilities:

Management of all taxes with group including corporation tax, VAT, IPT, PAYE etc.
Ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns, responses to HMRC correspondence/queries, making of necessary elections and any other compliance with tax obligations

Accurate provisioning of taxation liabilities in management accounts and tax accounting in the financial statements including support of annual audit.

Coordinating, liaising and skills development of all colleagues across the group involved in the taxation process
Manage relationship with HMRC, external advisers and external auditors in relation to taxation.
Establishing robust processes and controls across the group in relation to taxation, driving continuous improvement.
Coordinating Senior Accounting Officer reporting.
Ensuring adherence to tax strategy as approved by the Board.
Risk monitoring and reporting for 1st Line of Defence activities.
Provision of robust taxation advice in relation to new commercial arrangements, restructuring and other business activities including M&A.

Seek and identify opportunities to reduce tax burden of the group through ensuring use of all available reliefs and that the activities of the group are structured in a tax efficient manner.

Ad hoc project work including conducting tax reviews, enquiries and audits.
Ambassador for tax governance across all business activity.


Qualifications:


  • Qualified tax professional with at least 5 years post qualified experience
  • Experience of tax reporting within a large company or audit practice
  • Broad knowledge of tax technology
  • UK CT/VAT technical specialist
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in managing a team of professionals
