Role Outline


Working closely with the Director of Income Generation and Marketing this role will lead on the development and implementation of the fundraising strategy.

Driving forward income generation across all income streams, with a focus on Individual Giving including appeals and major donors, Legacies and our weekly lottery.

You will also support and guide your team to increase income across corporate, events and community activity.


You will collaborate across the hospice to develop innovative and compelling funding opportunities, delivering excellent stewardship to existing donors, and identifying, researching and engaging new prospects.

You will ensure continuous improvement and innovation and an appropriate balance of fundraising activity across all streams, whilst evaluating new ideas for income generation and strategies for implementation.


KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Develop, oversee and actively lead the implementation of a fundraising strategy which delivers a wide range of fundraising opportunities, maintains diverse and sustainable income streams, and builds the organisation's voluntary income to meet its aims and objectives
  • Lead and develop a motivated fundraising and supporter care team in line with regulatory requirements and best practice standards to meet and exceed income targets
  • Develop and deliver the weekly lottery to include marketing and promotion, agency management, analysis and reporting
  • Lead on the development and delivery of the annual fundraising campaigns/appeals, both online and offline, from initiation, case for support, audience segmentation, data specification, production, fulfilment and monitoring to results analysis
  • Working with the Legacy and In Memory Fundraiser, develop a clear strategy for both legacy and in memory giving that ensures growth in these key activity areas over the coming years
  • Lead on the development and implementation of a midlevel and major donor fundraising programme to secure new donors and income
  • Manage the cultivation and stewardship plans for major donors including liaison with and involvement from Senior staff and Trustees
  • Ensure delivery of great donor care through an effective stewardship and supporter journey strategy and mobilising support from other teams where appropriate
  • Work closely with the Head of Marketing and Head of Retail to maximise income generating and supporter engagement opportunities for the hospice
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate fundraising activities, taking corrective action when necessary and reporting to the Director of Income Generation and Marketing on results
  • Ensure compliance with the Charity Commission, Fundraising Regulator and GDPR, Data Protection Act 201
  • Be responsible for ensuring own knowledge and skills are kept up to date and also those within your team

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Access mandatory training appropriate to the role
  • Participate in the hospice appraisal system and access training opportunities to improve own knowledge and skills
  • Participate in the education and training of others as appropriate to the role

STATUTORY DUTIES

  • Ensure the security of information accessed in the course of your duties ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act, Caldicott principles and information governance best practice guidance
  • Report any hazards or incidents in accordance with the Health Safety and Risk Management Policy and procedures
  • Comply with the East Lancashire Hospice 'no smoking' policy in all hospice premises and grounds
  • Be responsible for maintaining own vaccinations including Hepatitis B immunity (as applicable)
  • Ensure that infection control measures are followed in relation to your role
  • Work at all times to safeguard the rights of individuals promoting their wellbeing and protecting those at risk from harm, acting on any concerns related to safeguarding children and adults at risk in line with policy and local guidance
