    Description

    Job Title: Clinical Leadership and Management Role at East Lancashire Hospice

    As part of our commitment to providing exceptional hospice care in the community, we are seeking a dynamic individual with a passion for enhancing palliative and end-of-life care to lead and manage our Supportive Care Team.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Lead and manage the Community Supportive Care team with a focus on delivering high-quality care
    • Contribute to clinical practice and ensure compassionate care for patients and their loved ones
    • Work collaboratively with a multi-professional team and manage time effectively to enhance clinical practice

    About East Lancashire Hospice:

    Established in 1984, East Lancashire Hospice is a registered charity dedicated to supporting patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families. Our team of over 120 employees and 250 volunteers are committed to providing excellent care across Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn, and the Ribble Valley.

    Job Responsibilities:

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Lead recruitment and induction processes for new staff and volunteers
    • Maintain staff competence through effective supervision and training
    • Promote continuous learning and development
    • Foster a positive work culture and support personal growth
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for service enhancement
    • Ensure compliance with clinical standards and regulatory requirements
    • Encourage patient feedback and participate in quality improvement initiatives

    Professional Responsibilities:

    • Adhere to professional standards and best practices
    • Maintain respectful relationships with colleagues and key personnel
    • Support hospice policies and procedures
    • Act as an ambassador for East Lancashire Hospice and promote our vision and values

    General Responsibilities:

    • Monitor service activities and deliver educational sessions
    • Manage sickness absence and performance evaluations
    • Ensure compliance with training requirements
    • Utilize IT systems for professional practice
    • Maintain a safe environment and optimize resource allocation

    Working Hours:

    The post holder will work flexibly according to a rota, including weekends, to ensure effective service delivery.

    Person Specification:

    Experience

    • Substantial experience in senior clinical roles
    • Audit and service improvement experience
    • Expertise in palliative and end-of-life care

    Knowledge

    • Understanding of regulatory standards and risk management
    • Knowledge of safeguarding principles
    • Desirable: Budget management and advance care planning

    Qualifications

    • Registered Nurse with NMC registration
    • Leadership/management experience
    • Degree in a related field
    • Desirable: Advanced communication skills and qualification in palliative care

    Skills

    • Assessment, care planning, and leadership skills
    • Competence in clinical skills and problem-solving
    • Computer literacy and ability to build relationships
    • Personal attributes: Excellent communication, self-driven, and patient-focused
