Position Summary
Hands on Engineering Supervisor, responsible for the effective and efficient supervision of up to 20 Technicians undertaking pre use checks, general maintenance and repair of Rolling Stock Vehicles / Locomotives
To ensure efficient use of labour resources through shift rostering and holiday management
Manage working hours to reduce the use of emergency overtime
Oversee Level 1-4 Staff to ensure completion and security of engineering documentation
To identify training opportunities and mentoring requirements
To be the main line of contact between the Shop Floor and the Depot Manager for all engineering, staffing and maintenance matters
To report daily and as required to the Depot Manager ongoing status/availability of vehicles in the workshop under repair/maintenance

Person Profile/Experience:
An experienced, Level 3 qualified Technician that has previous supervisory experience of successfully leading a small engineering maintenance team, providing mentoring where appropriate and capable of identifying the
Team Leaders/Supervisors/Managers of the future

Key Criteria:
Ideally live within a 30-minute commute of the Depot
Must be fit and healthy, being hands on there is a requirement to work on and around the Locomotive
Must have a min Level 3 NVQ or equivalent Technical Qualification
Previous vehicle workshop supervisory experience
Financially aware
Team Player, Team Builder, Team Leader
