About the role
Are you someone with a passion for ensuring children and young people with speech and language and communication needs achieve their potential and aspirations into adulthood?


We are looking for Speech and Language Therapists who can continue to complement the work of the existing NHS service within the Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ripon and Craven area.

You will be working collaboratively with partners across health, care, the voluntary sector and parents/carers and children and young people.


You will be the providing therapeutic advice and support to targeted mainstream provisions (TMP) being established within North Yorkshire, based in mainstream schools.

These will support children who can access a mainstream setting with an enhanced level of support.

These new posts will work alongside NHS colleagues to enhance the Speech and Language support available to staff and children in those provisions.

You will be supported in this work by Speech Language Therapy Assistants.

You will also have the opportunity to work within the Personalised Learning College (PLC) for post 16 learners, supporting them with a variety of methods of communication.


You will also have the opportunity to offer an enhanced level of support and intervention for cases requiring it, particularly around building the skills and knowledge of colleagues within the hubs, and within schools, settings and colleges within the Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ripon and Craven area.

When required, you will work to enhance the LA offer to children and families within the statutory EHCP process, providing reports and detailed input to support complex assessments, and to make recommendations about future provision.

Detailed understanding of the impact of speech, language and communication skills on access to the curriculum, impact on learning and impact on social and emotional development.


  • Knowledge of the importance of the environment and communication partners in developing S&LC skills.
  • In depth knowledge of current guidance and legislation with respect to Early Years, statutory education and national curriculum delivery
  • Knowledge of statutory requirements of the SEND Code of Practice


You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be skilled in delivering training, have the ability to work collaboratively with others and have excellent assessment skills.

You will have a positive, solution focussed approach.
