    Description

    We're on the lookout for a **SEND Class Teacher** to join a specialist school based in London, dedicated to catering to children with severe and complex needs.

    About the Role

    **Location:** East of England, Essex, Loughton

    **Job Type:** Permanent, Full-Time hours

    **Primary Industry:** Education and Training

    **Salary:** £30,000 - £45,000 Per annum

    Job Responsibilities

    • Plan and deliver interesting lessons customized to meet the requirements of students with severe and complex needs
    • Evaluate students' capabilities and progress to shape individualized education plans
    • Work together with support staff and parents to establish a nurturing learning atmosphere
    • Apply behavior management techniques to assist students dealing with challenging behaviors
    • Engage in meetings and training sessions to boost professional development

    Minimum Requirements

    • Hold a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
    • Previous experience working with students having severe and complex needs
    • Familiarity with special educational needs (SEN) practices and laws

    Qualifications Needed

    Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field

    Work Experience

    A minimum of 2 years' experience in teaching students facing severe and complex needs

    Skills and Attributes

    • Firm grasp of various learning styles and strategies
    • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
    • Effective team player
    • Proficiency in assessment and evaluation techniques

    Desirable Qualifications

    • Postgraduate qualification in Special Educational Needs (SEN)
    • Experience using assistive technology to aid learning
    • Training in Makaton or other communication systems

    Working Environment

    This role requires working in a classroom environment with students having severe and complex needs. The teacher may need to offer personal care and assistance to students as needed. Regular interaction with support staff, parents, and external professionals is also a key aspect of the job.

    All candidates must hold the necessary qualifications and training for this role. **Protocol Education** is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of children through safeguarding checks and robust policies in line with the DfE statutory guidance 'Keeping Children Safe in Education'.
