    Default job background
    Full time
    Description
Amazon's Simple Storage Service (S3) provides a key-value interface to an infinitely scalable and durable object storage system.

We build and run the largest commercial object storage system in the world with trillions of objects and regularly serving millions of requests per second.

The S3 Compute team builds features for S3 that make application solutions with S3 fast and inexpensive and integrate our customers applications with other AWS services.

Our features, services, and libraries are used by hundreds of thousands of customers supporting a variety of diverse use cases including event-driven architectures, transformation of data on the fly, data lake analytics, and security compliance.

As a highly available Amazon service, our solutions have to be easy to use, scalable, efficient, and extremely fault tolerant.

    Key job responsibilities

    In this role, you will:

    • Work with product managers and development managers to design and build new features and improve existing features
    • Lead and mentor talented software engineers
    • Participate in a development/operations service model to truly own the team's software
    • Utilize quality software engineering techniques like formal verification methods and resiliency threat assessments to build world-class quality software
    • Directly influence business success with performance and cost optimization engineering
    About the team
Our team puts a high value on work-life balance and team collaboration.

Our teams work in a hybrid mode where we spend time in the office collaborating and other times working from home.

We are dedicated to supporting new team members.

Our team has a broad mix of experience levels and Amazon tenures, and we're building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship.

Our senior engineers truly enjoy mentoring engineers from a variety of diverse backgrounds through one-on-one mentoring and thorough, but kind, technical reviews.

We are passionate about learning and career development for all of our team members.

    About AWS.
    Diverse Experiences
    AWS values diverse experiences.

Even if you do not meet all of the qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage candidates to apply.

We're continuously raising our performance bar as we strive to become Earth's Best Employer.

That's why you'll find endless knowledge-sharing, mentorship and other career-advancing resources here to help you develop into a better-rounded professional.

    Work/Life Balance
    We value work-life harmony.

Achieving success at work should never come at the expense of sacrifices at home, which is why flexible work hours and arrangements are part of our culture.

When we feel supported in the workplace and at home, there's nothing we can't achieve in the cloud.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
