    Description

    We are looking for a Radiographer who is a qualified Mammographer with considerable experience to take a Clinical Excellence role within Breast Imaging.

    You will be part of a team who support each other and take pride in delivering excellent care. The role is primarily a clinical one and you will spend your working day undertaking mammography and mammo-based procedures.You will also take responsibility for elements of planning, demonstrate leadership, help to standardise procedures, create efficiencies and promote best practice as a single, integrated unit based on three sites. Building relationships and encouraging co-operation are important parts of this role. Main duties of the job There will be opportunities to train in Advanced Practice, such as Imaging Interpretation and Interventional Procedures, and you will be able to apply for these as part of this role. Most of your work will be with the Symptomatic service however you will also be required to work in Screening/Assessment as part of the Service Level Agreement between Barts Health and the Central and East London Breast Screening Service. It is therefore essential that you have experience of working in a Breast Screening environment to NBSS standards. You may also be required to provide Breast Screening on a sessional basis. Job description Job responsibilities You should be a qualified Radiographer who holds the Post Graduate Certificate of Professional Practice in Mammography and be HCPC registered. Capable and willing to work to the highest standards, committed to patient care and with the desire to work in this exacting environment. You should have extensive active post-graduate experience as a Radiographer and further years of mammography experience.     • Significant post graduate experience in Radiography
    • Substantial previous experience of Mammography and other techniques to be competent to : oadapt to individual patient anatomy to produce specific standard and non-standard mammographic views. oenable training of junior staff and students
    • Experience of a range of Mammographic procedures
    • Experience of clinical audit
    • Previous experience of participation in research projects
    • Experience of setting up Breast Biopsy equipment
    • Experience of imaging core biopsy and surgical excision specimens, often requiring physical handling of fresh specimens.
    • Taken part in Breast Screening Quality Assurance
    • Experience of supervising staff.
    Qualifications Essential
    • Hold DCR(R) or BSc Hons degree (or equivalent) in Diagnostic Imaging.
    • Current and up-to-date Registration with the HCPC
    • Additional specialist training equivalent to Master's level plus practical experience: Breast Imaging Theory and Practice
    • Have undertaken, be in the process of undertaking or be willing to undertake additional post-graduate professional training such as Image Interpretation and Reporting in Mammography, Image-guided interventional procedures of the Breast, Ultrasound of the Breast, Practice Education etc
    • Evidence of substantial CPD in clinically related and relevant subjects
    Knowledge Essential
    • An excellent level of skill and knowledge in all aspects of breast imaging to include technique and procedures, supplemented by short specialist courses.
    • Working Knowledge of Ionising Radiation Regulations - IRR2017 and IR(ME)R2017
    • Good understanding and knowledge of NHSBSP and Quality Assurance Programme
    • Evidence of CPD, including attendance at relevant short course & study days.
    • Experience with clinical audit, research and quality assurance.Awareness of NHS targets that affect Radiology.
    • Up to date knowledge current and emerging issues in the world of Breast Imaging and Breast treatment
    • Teaching radiographers and members of other professions
    • Clinical Governance knowledge
    • Ability to work on own initiative. Radiographic technique/image quality Knowledge of College of Radiographers statement of Professional conduct
    • Knowledge of risk assessments
    • Experience/ working Knowledge of PACs
