Introduction:


Our Breast Screening and Assessment Clinics are staffed by dedicated multi-disciplinary teams of Consultant Radiologists, Associate Breast Clinicians, highly experienced Radiographers, Mammographers, clinical and administration staff; recalling women to obtain a definitive diagnosis of all potential screen detected abnormalities.

This is achieved by following the principles of triple assessment - mammography/ultrasound, clinical examination and needle biopsy.

We carry out Breast Screening MRIs for those women under the surveillance part of the breast screening programme or for those who are deemed as genetically high risk, to confirm the extent of previously discovered cancers/abnormalities.


What you will do:


  • As part of our clinical team, this role is essential to ensuring our patients receive the best standard of care from arrival through departure. The Clinical Assistant is primarily responsible for ensuring the smooth running of working day by welcoming patients into the clinical area and preparing them for their Mammogram. You will also be required to help radiologists with patients in assessment clinics. In addition to this and from time to time, you may be required to complete some administrative tasks within the department, however this role will mostly be patient facing.

What you are responsible for:


  • Escorting patients to and from the clinical area as required, explaining the procedure in full and ensuring any questions or concerns are managed professionally
  • Ensuring patient and customer focus is central to the success of the Breast Screening department by delivering an excellent level of patient care throughout
  • Accurately entering all relevant patient data into the patient management system
  • Assisting in any interventional procedures including:
  • Fine needle aspirations
  • Needle core biopsies
  • Vacuumassisted biopsies
  • Wire localizations
  • Marker insertion.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A good understanding of health and safety, and infection control
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a multi skilled team
  • Flexibility in working patterns to fulfil site requirements
  • Effective communication skills both on the phone and face to face.
  • In a similar healthcare role, delivering hands on patient care
