    Job summary

    The TSSU (Sterile Services) department is an enthusiastic team who workin a busy fast paced department. The Sterile Services Department reprocessessurgical instruments for the Trust and surrounding areas. The Trust is not only tackling thewaiting list backlog following the Covid pandemic but has also increased in Trauma procedures at the WRH. This has created moreSterile Services Assistant job opportunities within the TSSU department. Theshift available is 4pm - 8pm Monday to Friday. The department offers a sixmonth on the job training programme with an accompanying I Learnqualifications. The department is looking to offer an NVQ qualification in thefuture. Opportunities do arise within the department to progress to aSupervisor and potentially a future manager.

    Main duties of the job

    The main duties of the role are the collection of used surgicalinstruments, preparing the instruments for the washer disinfector. Thereassembly of the surgical instrument trays, closely inspecting for cleanlinessand damage, wrapping of the surgical instruments. The sterilisation anddelivery of the reprocessed surgical instruments.

    Job responsibilities

    To undertake generalduties within the Sterile Services Department including cleaning, inspecting,testing, assembling, checking, packing and sterilising of theatre instruments,ward instruments and operating theatre instrument trays. To collect and deliveritems to Wards, Departments and Theatres

  • Recognised qualification in Sterile Services IDSC, NVQ or similar
  • Experience

    Desirable

  • Previous work in Sterile Services or clean room manufacturing department/hospital setting
